Hi I haven't used GnuCash but I hear its a great program. Has anyone used Openbravo. I just installed it on a local Ubuntu server. I would like to move the instance to an EC2 machine. Does anyone have experience with Amazon EC2 installations? I have an Ubuntu EC2 machine running but need further assistance. Convert Quickbooks to GnuCash

Hi, Has anyone had a experience migrating from quickbooks to gnucash? I have been google'ing for the past couple of hours looking for solutions but have not really found one that works for me. The only one I have found requires Excel (xl2qif Excel Macro). -mike

Fedora 10 and sound

I decided to install fedora 10. I understand that my laptop is old (bought in 2002). Fedora 8 had problems installing due to 256M of ram but ran fine once I got it installed. I've since upgraded the memory but fedora 10 can't play audio. Any music file I've tried lags horribly. Is there any configuration I can modify to fix the problem? Alternatively can the audio server be disabled?

A little workstation support may also be needed now and then. The initial projects include: 1. Wrapping up a combined BackupPC/BACULA project - set policies and procedures - document - test restore 2. Establish a source code management system using Subversion with appropriate clients/tools on workstations - help develop policies, practices, and procedures - debug 3. Help design and then build a 3-tier test to production source code flow scheme using three servers (local, called "DEVELOPMENT", remote 1 called "STAGE", and remote 2 called "PRODUCTION". DEVELOPMENT for testing (playground), STAGE for "staging" to production (final test), and PRODUCTION for release. Other than when in a staging mode, PRODUCTION and STAGE can be switched into service as required should one or the other fail. Full details of these requirements will be provided, of course. Thorough systems administration knowledge and experience with Linux servers and workstations 2. Depth of knowledge and experience with bash, perl, and php to facilitate automated processes. HTML nice to know. 3. Understands security implications/exposures and includes these considerations in all designs and work. 4. Has available time to focus on major projects such that they can be accomplished within a mutually-agreeable timeframe 5. Can execute a non-disclosure agreement to protect company information 6. Automatically deleting old email

Is it possible in Evolution (or another email client) to configure messages to be deleted after a specified period without manual intervention? I have a few folders set for mailing lists and shopping offers, but the contents are irrelevant after a few days. I'd like to be able to set up each folder to delete messages older than seven days, for example. Thanks.

Samba config help

I wil PAY someone to come to my house and help me configure Samba on my CentOS server. I have three Windows machines set up with an admin user and a non-admin user. I don't really care right now if the non-admin user can access my server, I just want seamless access as admin so I can transfer stuff for my websites without using floppies or CDs. I have lots of money. No, wait, I *don't* have lots of money :) but maybe we can work something out. If I can make my server an ldap server and set up domain stuff, cool. If not, whatever works. I also have a Pegasos running MorpOS (which has its own copy of Samba), and a couple of Amiga 3000s which could either be setup with smbfs (which I had working at one point), or they could just FTP to the linux box (assuming I can get SMB access there from the Windoze side). It's not necessarily a Linux-specific question, but I'm creating some maps for the company Halloween party to direct kids to cubicles that have candy. I want to mark those cubicles with jack-o-lanterns. Using the GIMP, how can I use some jack-o-lantern clip-art as a stamp? It's called Universal Netboot Installer and "UNetbootin allows for the installation of various Linux/BSD distributions to a partition or USB drive, so it's no different from a standard install, only it doesn't need a CD. Mythtv Hardware

Hello all, I'd like to know what Wlug'ers are recommending for mythtv hardware these days. I already have a Hauppauge PVR-350 TV capture card. I'd like to build a low-profile quiet mythtv box that I can put next to a standard TV (not hi-def). What do people recommend? What about disk space? Ideally, I'd like something about the size of the mac-mini, but I don't think I can use a mac-mini as a mythtv backend. I already have a mythbuntu box, but it's big, noisy, and not suitable for what I'm looking for. Any ideas?? -- -Chuck

I loaded this software onto my laptop, but unfortunately, I cannot get dual monitors working, and that means the projector won't work with my laptop in its current state. I've seen a lot of bug reports and complaining about this problem, but nothing that I've tried will make it work. If/when I do get it working, I'll bring my laptop to the meeting, but it is not looking promising. Failing that, as a backup, if anybody has a laptop that is running this software, and has its output VGA port configured for 1024x768@60Hz (and tested prior to the meeting!), and would like to lead a discussion, please let me know. SSH problems

I have an outward facing ssh box at work that is currently being attacked. somebody's going through a dictionary attack of usernames; currently he or she is on abl. I can't block the IP Address because the ip is different with each username. Does anybody have any good ideas on how to stop this? I'm probably going to move the ssh port to some random high number to get rid of this, but I don't know yet if anybody else ssh's in besides me.
