Hi,
Anyone on here using Charter Telephone VOIP service? I've currently
got Verizon, but the wife hates it because our phone lines get flaky
all the time, esp when it rains.
So I'm thinking to save money and combine all my stuff onto Charter.
I've already got High Speed internet and regular old cable. Not wild
about Digital Cable since I'm happy with Tivo and I don't want yet
another set top box to have to deal with...
So, any horror stories about Charter Phone VOIP quality and service?
Thanks,
John

In late October of 2012, Hurricane Sandy was wreaking havoc on the east coast. It was the second costliest hurricane in US history causing widespread power and service disruptions. George Beech, a System Aministrator at Stack Overflow, will be presenting a talk at LOPSA-East 2013 about their successful failover to a backup datacenter and what it took to keep their primary New York City datacenter operational while implementing the Disaster Recovery plan.
This talk will focus mostly on Disaster Recovery and migration for a primarily windows based shop. Including:
SQL 2012 failover
DNS Migration
Dealing with long term shutdown of AD DC's
How their DR Plan survived it's encounter with reality
He will also spend a little bit of time talking about what happened at the 75 Broad st. facility - and the efforts of all involved to keep that datacenter up and running.
The 'Bucket Brigade'
24/7 Staffing rotations
How three companies worked together (SquareSpace, Fog Creek, and Stack Exchange) to keep the lights on, and services running.

Hi everyone,
First thanks being o.k. with my bringing my 5 year old on, Andrew to
the last meeting.
He does want to become a "Junior WLUG member".
For that reason I did not contribute much to the android meeting.
Below is a summary of my favorite apps, some were mentioned Wednesday
and some were not.
All are listed with a $ sign if they had a cost.
I am a cheapskate so it had to be pretty good for me to fork some over.
Thanks,
Joel
