Hi all,
After a nasty power problem, I have corruption on a reiserfs volume. What
I did:
http://toba.ath.cx:724/~eastein/reiserfsck.txt
I think I may have a damaged drive.
The scariest prospect:
Bad root block 0. (--rebuild-tree did not complete)
Any ideas?

I'm having a problem with email bouncing to verizon.net addresses, and
I suspect some other servers may be deleting it entirely.
My config...
I'm using mutt, which delivers to a local smtp server. My machine has
a fake domain name (mills.curran), since I'm on a NAT'ed firewall. I
route/relay my email through a web services provider with my own
domain name (mills-curran.net) on a static IP.
I know the issue is not a blacklisting, because the email gets
delivered if I use the web interface for email at the mills-curran.net
site.
I suspect that verizon.net doesn't like the fact that the email header
includes records including the fake mills.curran domain. I've tried
some sendmail configuration changes with no success.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Bill
Hi All,
I have a drive that sounds like it's about to fail (making strange
noises and occasionally not booting), so I want to copy it to another
identical drive. The drive has 1 NTFS partition on it - I very
occasionally run Win2k.
I booted up the 5.0 KNOPPIX CD and tried dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdb.
There were no error messages and after about 30 minutes the 'dd'
finished. However from KNOPPIX, I can't mount the new drive. the mount
command (sudo mount -t ntfs /dev/hdb1 /media/hdb1) fails with:
"Couldn't mount device '/dev/hdb1'. input/output error - mount failed".
The original drive (/dev/hda1) mounts without any problem.
If I use the fdisk utility and look at the partition table, there are
no differences between the hda and hdb drives.
Any ideas how I can solve this problem??
BTW: The qtparted utility on the KNOPPIX 5.0 CD and DVD fails with a
"floating point exception" error.
TIA,
-Chuck

HI gang,
This is a reminder about the upcoming WLUG meeting, to be held on
Wednesday, November 8th, at 7:00 PM in the Access Grid room on the WPI
campus in Worcester, MA USA.
We don't currently have a speaker for this meeting. Are there any
volunteers?
If not, I could try to give a talk about the Smart Package Manager,
which (thanks to Greg Avedissian) I have been using on my laptop for a
month or two. If other folks know more about this than I know, it could
turn into a discussion where we could all learn something new. I'm not
sure that there's enough here to take up a full meeting, but it would
certainly get us started. Let me know if this is of interest.
Naturally, we'll adjourn to the Tech Pizza restaurant after the meeting
for more socializing.
See ya there!
Andy
