I just saw an article that the next version of ubuntu 16.04 is going to have ZFS built in! I don't know what you guys take on it is, but I'll likely do a clean install to have ZFS as my root filesystem. -- I am leery of the allegiances of any politician who refers to their constituents as "consumers".

Thanks for asking, Steve. Unfortunately, this email got lost in the pile. That problem cleared itself up, but then I ran into the same problem with other dependencies. Then I discovered 'zypper patch' which suggested downgrading a couple things, and everything has been smooth sailing since. I hope to attend this meeting, but inform you I am not a person of technical expertise in this matter. May main aim with WLUG is to acquaint myself with other Linux users in the area and learn about what they are doing. It is with this that I hope to spread Linux usage in Worcester by various means including, I hope, having an installation fest (feast?). My introductory knowledge is with Ubuntu (Gnome and KDE), Mint (Gnome and KDE), Peppermint, Debian and Open SuSe. Right now I am using Mint 17.3 KDE. I also want to start a Linux SIG with Mensa. I'm having trouble with unresolved dependencies when trying to get updates with Apper in OpenSUSE: nothing provides libvpx.so.3()(64bit) needed by libavcodec56-2.8.6-55.1.x86_64 nothing provides libgnutls.so.30()(64bit) needed by libavformat56-2.8.6-55.1.x86_64 nothing provides liblzma.so.5(XZ_5.0)(64bit) needed by gstreamer-plugins-libav-1.6.1-2.1.x86_64 Is it just a matter of finding the right repositories? Hey Gang, Here's the details for our next meeting! Please NOTE THE LOCATION CHANGE! Date & Time: Feb. 11th 2016 @ 7pm Location: Atwater-Kent Room 232 Topic: ELK Presenter: Tim Keller ELK is an acronym that stands for "Elastisearch Logstash Kibana". It's platform that lets you gather data, search it and then create dashboards to display it. A good example might be having a single place that you can graph out the trends of disk usage across all the machines in your data center. I'm going to talk about setting up an elastic node, deploying logstasher and creating dashboards using kibana (and possibly grafana) Refreshments and snacks will be supplied and we'll have pizza at Tech afterwards to continue the conversation. If not, you're going to need to replace it first off. If the fan wiggles but does not spin when you power on the system, try reaching in and giving it a twist, it might then start spinning, but not likely. You should hear some beeps and boops at this point, time to dig up old manuals and see what they say for trouble shooting. But honestly, just toss it and get a BeagleBone of Raspberry Pi to play with instead. Hey Gang, Sorry for the late email, it's been hectic at my end of things. Here are the facts! Date & Time: January 17th, 2016 @ 7PM Location: WPI Student Center Mid Century Room (rm 331) Topic: None* *There's currently no topic ... I contemplated talking, but never got stuff together. Due to a scheduling conflict, I'll be unable to attend... so if someone else would like to step up for snacks and refreshments that would be quite helpful. I know people had a busy holidays, so my plan *was* for this to just be a general meeting anyway. We can get our heads around what we'd like for speakers for the coming year. My hope is to get my buddy Nick to do a deep dive talk about encryption in February. I know Greg had mentioned speaking about setting up a radio station. Please submit any suggestions! I suspect you'll have to ask on the mailing list for dream, since what I see on the web page implies that network stuff works... but not sure. I would think that dream could just pull the data directly from the radio itself, to cut out the middle man here.
