I think it's a great idea and I'd be willing to help in whatever way possible. I'm pretty sure if I asked nicely I'd be able to use Stratus's video equipment. We had also thought that a shorter 15-minute style video would be a great way to start. Personally, I'm in favor of "What is linux, and why is it good for you". So I guess the questions are, do people think this is still a good idea (as opposed to an idea made after consuming too much beer). Would people be willing to help? Hi all Thought you might enjoy the following sent to my wife: (Yes technically it is not Linux but it does make you appreciate it!) Haiku For Computers An e-mail currently circulating offers Haiku in place of the impersonal and unhelpful Microsoft error messages. Haiku poetry has strict construction rules. Each poem has only 17 syllables:5 in the first line, 7 in the second line and 5 in the third line. Your file was so big. It might be very useful, But now it is gone. The Web site you seek Cannot be located, but Countless more exist. Chaos reigns within. Reflect, repent, and reboot. Order shall return. Program aborting: Close all that you have worked on. You ask far too much. Windows NT crashed. I am the Blue Screen of Death. No one hears your screams. Yesterday it worked. Today it is not working. Windows is like that. First snow, then silence. GPL Videos ...

Last night after going to the B several of us ended up in the parking lot chatting about a variety of things including classic video game emulation, microsoft bashing, and creating a WLUG series of videos. Last night, it seemed like a great idea to make some kind of linux based show and distribute those videos for free (over the internet, possible on VCD as well). There were several ideas, including a social commentary (ala "geeks in space" http://www.thesync.com/geeks/) a tech-help show answering emails (http://www.techtv.com/callforhelp/) and instructional videos (just think of that comercial for the windows videos... "Just like a VCR, pop the cd into the computer, hit play, and learn"). Personally, I like the last idea best since it really can provide value for the community (as opposed to providing entertainment). We had also thought that a shorter 15-minute style video would be a great way to start. Personally, I'm in favor of "What is linux, and why is it good for you". I thought this was supposed to be a one night install fest... I would figure we'd need a weekend for a gentoo install ;-) j/k. I can definity do some gentoo CDs, I was thinking RH7.3 and possibly another distribution (like suse) let me know! I had thought of doing this "live" like we did one other time. In case Doug can't make the meeting, having another laptop or two present might be interesting. HI Everybody, My apologies for not sending this out sooner, but our meeting for Wednesday evening is going to take place at 7:00 PM in Kinnicutt Hall on the WPI campus like usual. We won't be having the install fest since I didn't get off my butt and make the arrangements (sorry!). I hope to do that tomorrow for a potential install fest in 1-2 weeks.
