IPv6 config question

Hiya! I've got an old laptop (Sony Vaio PCG-F520) that I've been setting to re-purposing. To this end, I've installed Fedora 10 on it. I've got DNS (IPv4) and DHCP configured on it, and it will eventually be acting as a printserver for an HP LaserJet 4MP. :) My question is this: How difficult (or involved) would it be to add IPv6 support to this? I know about AAAA records, but I'm not so sure what the reverse lookup file would look like. Likewise, I'm not sure about how DHCP would be configured, if I have to touch it at all. Guys, I'm trying to ressurect an old MSI K8T NEO mother board with an Athlon64 3000 CPU. Unfortunately, I don't have any 184 Pin PC3200/DDR400, PC2700/DDR333, PC2100/ DDR266 or PC1600/DDR200 unbuffered DIMM boards. Probably 512Mb each (I've got three slots), though bigger is always better, right? I'd be willing to travel in the worcester area tomorrow to do a pickup, or hit a store with some if anyone has any suggestions other than the guys in Northboro on Rt 20. Thanks, John

I recently started a business and i was wondering if anyone would be interested in purchasing some computers for 339.99 + tax each they each come with a 17" LCD, Wireless keyboard and mouse, speakers, dvd burner, 1gb of ddr2, a 320gb hdd, AMD Sempron LE-1100 and ubuntu linux pre-installed. Guys, I'm looking for some help with PHP5.2.x hacking on a web site to cleanup how the user submitted search form is handled. Basically I want to make it simple for the end user to a) refine their query, b) not have to answer popups if they hit the reload button, and c) so I can leanr more PHP. I found this nice reference: http://us2.php.net/manual/en/language.variables.external.php which has two sections by "wayne" and "Jonas Lindel" talking about how you can take the results of a PHP POST request, stuff the vars into your session, and redirect back to the same page without the POST vars set, then complete the query. The idea is so that when people hit the "back" or "reload" buttons, they don't keep getting asked whether they want to resubmit their data. It's not strictly needed, but it would be a nice cleanup of the interface. John et al, I think I have a real problem.. Neither OS uses /etc/X11/xorg.conf as one would expect. I think there is a book available entitled "Computing in the Middle Ages". Could it be????? getting rid of some monitors

I apologize in advance for spamming the list with my want ad. I need to get rid of some CRT monitors and am wondering if anyone on the list would be interested. They are as follows... 1x Gateway Vivitron (circa '95) 17" 1x Compaq MV940 19" 2x Digital re-branded Trinitron 21" (matched pair) The 19" and 21" monitors can each run at 1600x1200 and the 21s have dual input, which is nice. I used the 21s in a TwinView setup on my main Ubuntu-based workstation at home for years until I got a LCD last Christmas. I have power/video cables for all of them, so they are ready to roll. I had them up on craigslist to try and sell them, but haven't gotten any hits and it's just time to clear out the space. The catch is that you would need to come pick them up from me in Uxbridge. The issue with 60 Hz and the LCD was not flicker. I mentioned visual defects. I meant things like missing pixels. I had to use the analog connection because that was all that was available on the PC that I had just bought. I just looked at the setting now to see if I had really chosen 120 Hz which is still a harmonic of 60Hz. Unfortunately for looking at the setting, I moved three years ago from the house where the office had fluorescent lights. When I set up my computer again in the new house, I must have somehow gone back to the default 60 Hz. There are no fluorescent lights around and there are none of the visual defects I saw in the other house. When I brought my unit back to Fry's electronics they had no such problem in the store from the ceiling lights which were a good 15 or more feet away. They gave me a replacement anyway just to keep me happy. I had not even suspected fluorescent lights at that point. When I got the replacement home, it had the same problem as the first one. I was about to give up on Samsung in disgust when I asked around at work if anybody could figure out the problem. Our computer hardware support person mentioned the fluorescent light idea. I went home, changed the frequency and the problems disappeared. The fluorescent lights in my home office were probably only 4 feet from the LCD. The cause of the problem might have been something completely different, but I cannot come up with another explanation that fits the observations. Maybe I had sympathetic 60 Hz fluctuations from my neighbor's ham radio. I have not been making the meetings. That does not mean my SUN ULTRA1 running Aurora Linux can no longer create 'interesting' problems. This time the second SUN ULTRA running Gentoo is in cahoots. I have a new SAMSUNG SyncMaster flat screen monitor. I have attached this monitor via a Belkin SUN adapter to my ULTRA1's. It does not work!! The monitor flashes a little square window saying something about "Not optimum mode". It feels that it has not been configured correctly. The buttons on the right of the monitor, which are there to set it up, also do not work with the SUN's is attached. The monitor works fine with PC type machinery. The Belkin worked fine with a regular old tube monitor. (I have not dug out the old monitor to check whether it still works. I suspect it does.) Anybody have any ideas? I have a Samsung SyncMaster 204B, but it is on a Windows PC. As for the frequency, 60 Hz is not good in close proximity to fluorescent lights. I actually have played pong on a monitor like that back in my DEC daze. What's even more amusing is the paper tape loader to the right of the monitor. It sure relieved you of toggling in the boot loader. Well, I purchased a Rosewill RC-608 ExpressCard to CardBus Adapter but apparently linux doesn't support it. Fedora 11 and mingw32

I installed fedora 11 on my old laptop and turned back on glitch free audio. It almost works perfectly. Sufficient that I probably wouldn't bother turning it off now. I think the hard drive is starting to fail so I decided to purchase a new laptop. Since I'd like some 3D functionality now I decided to go with the Intel GMA X4500. Unfortunately Fedora 11 stumbled here. I thought the picture quality wasn't very good and found it was using the vesa drivers not the intel drivers. Searching found that others had the same issue but it worked on Fedora 10. Tried a Fedora 10 live CD and the display was nice and sharp. Modified the xorg.conf to use the intel drivers and Fedora 11 also became nice and sharp. Anyway onto my question, has anyone played with the mingw32 cross compiler on Fedora 11? I've created a simple hello world app and cmake file (since I hate autotools). I've got it compiling by creating a Toolchain file but it seems like that is something that should be provided with the mingw32. Is there a standard Toolchain file somewhere and I just haven't found it?

Understanding the machine Wanting a more general perspective that will help me anticipate and navigate OS issues as they arise. Just ordered http://www.amazon.com/Write-Great-Code-Understanding-Machine/dp/1593270038/… Anyone have reading (book, online) suggestions geared at accessible intro level? More intermediate level? 2. Getting a machine Freedom of choice in the component market is overwhelming. A curse, actually. I'd be losing significant time just learning how to spec a system. In the Worcester area, is there anyone I can pay to put together a machine for me with some bit of craftsmanship and reliability? That way I can have substantially more control over machine quality. Do any of you have a favorite components list? I'd be most interested in a machine designed for silence, and I'm quite willing to study up on that issue.. fan noise drives me nuts when I'm coding. What do you think about this workaround -- http://www.inatux.com/order These are FSF/FOSS people. I can't see a need for a super fast system yet, as I can't say yet where my project interests will gravitate. In light of that, since optimality makes no sense, what machine specs do you think would be “good enough”? Desirable packages to install? The Program Committee for the 2nd USENIX Workshop on Hot Topics in Parallelism (HotPar '10) invites you to submit position papers. HotPar '10 will bring together researchers and practitioners doing innovative work in the area of parallel computing. HotPar recognizes the broad impact of multicore computing and seeks relevant contributions in all fields, including application design, languages and compilers, systems, and architecture. We request submissions of position papers that propose new directions for research of products in these areas, advocate non-traditional approaches to the problems engendered by parallelism, or potentially generate controversy and discussion.
