Has a license for Windows 2000 on the bottom. - 15" screen, has a line going through it near the top that sometimes visible, sometimes white, sometimes black; probably not repairable without a replacement - DVD-ROM drive working but funky with eject; swappable with floppy drive (included) - Battery completely drained - Comes with docking station (which has power button, ethernet, VGA, DVI, serial, 1xUSB, PS/2 ports for mouse and keyboard, audio out and mic in, and a port used by some PCMCIA cards I can't remember what it's called (small)) - Comes with AC Adapter - 2x128MB RAM; fully tested OK - Pentium III @ 700 MHz - Video card is an Intel variant of the time $50 sold. PC to Home Stereo Solution

Is it me or is there no good solution to streaming your OGG and FLAC music files to your home stereo from Linux. Even the Windows solutions seem sparse and are usually proprietary. I have wanted to do this for a long time and every time I start googling for a solution I come up empty. Does anyone have any experience with this? I would appreciate your comments. Anyone who is interested in a certain topic, feel free to come to the meeting and discuss it. There has been a lot of talk about streaming music to stereo systems, so I suggest we talk about that. Grub and E-Waste

Two somewhat related questions. I went to a USB keyboard after my PS keyboard broke. I am running Ubuntu 10.04. How do I get GRUB to recognize the keyboard? Second, where do I get rid of the broken keyboard? Does Worcester have an E-Waste recycling center? Thanks. Ted

I neglected to bring up this topic at our last meeting. We usually have a WLUG summer BBQ around July or August, so I'd like to get the planning discussion going now. Are people interested in having a BBQ this year, and if so, would someone be willing to host it? WLUG should enough in the bank to fund the food (Andy can you confirm?), so all we need is a place with a BBQ grill and a time. Comments? Ideas? -Chuck

Converting VSAM files

Hi: I have a project in which I need to migrate some data stored in VSAM files to a relational database (mssql). I am wondering if anyone has had experience with extracting data from a VSAM file to a flat file. If so what tools would you recommend to make this happen. tia, Mike

Awk Null Field

Wow, what's wrong with me? I'm trying to parse a file to eliminate any line from the file to the output where a particular field is is null. The 8th field in this case. I can't get it right! I haven't done an awk script in a long time but this should be simple stuff. Basically I'm trying to do: cat file | awk -F\| '$8 !~ <NULL expression> {print}' Any help would be appreciated. My goal is to get Fedora 12-Beta up and running on my ULTRA1 Sparc. When I tried installing it the system did not like my DISC 1. 1. I would like to check the checksums on the six CD's that I made from your fedora 12-Beta source. I read that the only way is to shutdown, do "STOP a" and type "Linux mediacheck". My system does not recognize the "Linux mediacheck" command. Is there no way to do this operation from within a running Aurora system? 2. I have checked. I really have two identical Aurora systems on my two hard drives. The older one on the 17Gig drive from the ULTRA1 that died does not boot correctly. The newer version on the 3.4 Gig disk is from last week's successful installation of that same antique five CD .iso set. That new installation had to be limited because of a problem with a language file supporting emacs. I would like to be running a modern Aurora, but still keep my archive files. My ULTRA1 hard drives do not have a separate four pin power connector. That's the CD drive. Here's what one of my hard drives says: Seagate Barracuda Model ST32171WC It has a connector with about 76 pins. They are too small for me to count accurately. ---------------------------------------- I have decided to stick with my present installation of a 2004 Aurora package on my 3.2 Gig disk. I can mount my old Linux disk so I can get at the files I wish to preserve. I can even back them up. I think I can RPM some newer versions from the WEB. I have a brand new Fedora 12 Beta packages disk that refused to load. Checksum?? Gotta get Md5sum going... Thank you for all your support and tell me when you get a PDP10 or 11 working. John, Yes this is one of those oval connectors. It is designated as sdb which (I always thought) means the second SCSI drive disk. I'd be glad to take a drive to where ever you are for a 35Gig drive. Ken
