Hmm... maybe using 'nc' (netcat) to listen to that UDP port and then feed the info into either the FIFO or directly into the other tool? Are they open source? It might just be time to hack some source to do what you want... I also think the JACK audio thing might work, where you setup some virtual Mics and Feeds to connect the two programs together. John

I knew I should have recorded the I and Q when I was listening to it! Audio processing question

Hi gang, I think I need something like the Virtual audio cable, but I'd like to know if there are other possibilities. I have two audio programs that I want to talk to each other: gqrx and Dream. gqrx is a software defined radio receiver that can save its audio as a WAV file, or it can stream audio via a UDP port. Dream is a digital radio mondiale (DRM) decoder. Digital radio mondiale is a shortwave radio broadcast in a digital format. Dream can read a WAV file, or it can read audio information from the microphone. It outputs a rather nicely sounding radio broadcast (mono or stereo depending on the broadcaster) with no static and no fading. I have succeeded in recording gqrx audio to a WAV file, and later having Dream decode it. What I want to do is listen to the DRM broadcast in real time. I was unsuccessful in getting Dream to read the WAV file while it was being written. Does anybody have any suggestions as to how this could be done? FYI: reception of DRM broadcasts requires an upper sideband radio receiver that is at least 10kHz wide, a decent antenna, and in my case, a DVB-T dongle and the gqrx software coupled with Dream. Talking to people last night it sounds like there's some serious interest in collecting / searching / displaying / dashboards. Since I've been working with this stuff, if people are interested I wouldn't mind giving a talk / demo, showing off elasticsearch, logstash, kalbana, graphite, grafana, etc. Are people interested? A better description of the location is: WPI Sports and Recreation Center room 412 - Class of '61 Meeting Room 1. This is a new building as of a few years ago. It is next to Harrington Auditorium, on the hill between it and the football field. She knows exactly what a Raspberry Pi is and why I'm not allowed to buy any more ;) Perhaps if I get my pieces and parts soon enough - I can show off my DeskArcade powered by Raspberry Pi 2... Something installed it on one (but only one) of my computers which means when I log on it takes a minute to time out and say: Cannot resolve network address for KDC in requested realm while getting initial credentials before letting me in. I've thought of asking why, but don't care enough since it eventually works. Maybe I'll learn something. I know that IP means Internet Protocol, but what is the A? http://www.freeipa.org/ does not seem to say, but Wikipedia spells it out. Identity - Policy - Audit Some sort of GUI front end to Kerberos? I'm not sure I want it, but I should know what it is if only so I can avoid it.
