I believe at this point ALL the rooms in WPI have hdmi. That shouldn't be a problem. I do believe all the rooms have at the podium a 3mm head phone jack. Thanks, Tim. I've got some technical concerns about the demo. Just want to make sure we have all the right stuff on hand. No VGA port on the laptop, just HDMI. The one time I tested that (yesterday) there was no audio through the HDMI. The laptop speakers are loud enough if you hold your ear close. Can we patch into the sound system with a mini-jack? (Or does someone have a pair of micro-speakers they can bring along in their pocket?) Windows NT/XP/7/8 had the POSIX subsystem and then the Interix subsystem: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interix But they deprecated it in Windows 8 and don't support it at all on Windows 10. As one of my co-workers pointed out... the MS file model is fundamentally incompatible with the linux model. Try renaming a file in windows that someone else has open... try deleting a file someone has open. There are lots and lots of linux programs that do that last trick... create a temp file, open it and then delete it... use it for scratch space and then when they close it... *poof* it's gone. Interesting but I don't see much point. Yes it may be technically interesting but from an end user perspective why use this over cygwin. I imagine any graphical application won't work. If they did make it support SDL, gtk, etc., I'd be interested. Granted on a new machine I might install it instead of cygwin if it was easier to install. Yeah, I should know better. I was beat up and frustrated at the time. Sorry. The root of my problem was that I couldn't find any options in the BIOS to manipulate the Secure Boot/UEFI/Legacy stuff. However, I found them this morning after I selected an option that I assumed to be unrelated which unlocked them. Thank you, Gigabyte. So I'm making progress now but I'm still not out of the woods yet. I've got Windows installed with space partitioned for LM but now I'm working on getting the installer to recognize the Windows partition. It thinks I have the entire disk available. Damn. In any case, I think you need to make sure that you boot into Win10, shrink the C:\ drive and leave free space on the disk.
