Hey Gang, After last meeting, we were sitting around and started brainstorming some ideas for upcoming meetings. Here were some of the ideas that came up... - 2 factor authentication - Full disk encryption or partition encryption with luks + ubee token - Personal rpz - Home automation with Raspberry pi - Ansible and/or other automation / configuration tools - git methodologies, i.e. now that you've got git, how to use it effectively - Modern Linux kernel compiling for fun and performance! Linux Drivers contract opening in MA

We have a contract with an existing client in the Westford/Chelmsford area looking for a Sr Linux Drivers engineer for a contract opening. It is currently budgeted through the end of the year, but could be extended beyond that as they are working on 2017 budgets now. Our client needs someone with strong Linux drivers experience. Ideally someone with Yocto and the LXP processor from NXP, but those are not hard requirements. The key is strong Linux drivers skills. Thank you for the post. I'm still here as a Wlug member. When is the next meeting? Perhaps we can have a meeting about the present dark hacks and malware. Meanwhile, I'm touring the new Linux Mint 18 and find it fresh and very stable but limited in some areas. I think they will add things to upgrades and updates. Again, thank you.

Tim, The meeting announcement I sent to the IEEE members (see below) included the wrong room number. I cannot notify them before the meeting of the typo that was in the announcement. Tomorrow I will be in Boston all day at a VMware vForum conference that ends at 4-5 o'clock and can't be sure I will get to WPI before 7pm. Speaker: William Temple Topic: Container technologies... The speaker for this meeting is William Temple. Here's what he recently posted to the list (if you didn't already see it) Thanks for inviting me to give a talk on containers this Thursday. I'm a Senior at WPI and spent the last two summers working on container technologies at Red Hat under the Project Atomic/OpenShift banners. If you all are interested, topics for discussion could be: - Containers 101: Introduction & Motivations - Container Technologies -- docker -- Open Containers Initiative -- LXC, rkt, and others - Container Implementation -- namespaces -- cgroups -- security implications, comparison to Virtual Machines - Containers in Production (Kubernetes, etc.) - Containers in Consumer Environments (Flatpak, Snappy, etc.) If there are any other container-related topics you'd like to hear about, please just let me know and I can work them in. I'm mostly familiar with the Docker/OCI & Kubernetes orchestration stack, so I won't be able to go into technical details about other systems, but can give an overview if someone else wants to get into the weeds about any other container systems. I'd like to thank Logan for getting this organized and for William for being accomidating of our location and schedule change.
