Hi Tim, The Anet A8 and TEVO tarantula are i3 derivatives, what with the hardware being open source. Each of these can be found on Amazon. The assembly guides are pretty cryptic though, with lots of skipped steps and a lack of images. However, If Ab Initio can afford the $600, I would seriously recommend getting Josef Prusa's original version, which he sells on his website. https://shop.prusa3d.com/en/3d-printers/59-original-prusa-i3-mk2-kit.html?g… The manuals are amazing, with an active community of people making revisions on Github. Monoprice also has a fork of the i3 which they sell as well. https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=13860&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4q3brfnj1gIV… In terms of assembly time: the A8, the Tarantula, and the original i3 will all take a couple days of (hopefully some poor intern's) time to assemble and test. The Monoprice i3 ships semi-assembled, and you can get printing within a couple hours. 3d printing question.

Hey Gang, I've been given clearance to buy a 3d printer, with the caveat of controlling the cost. There are an infinite number of choices out there. A co-worker bought this one and had good luck with it: https://www.walmart.com/ip/2017-Upgraded-Quality-High-Precision-Reprap-Prus… I've also found this one which seems to be pretty good quality as well: https://www.3dprintersonlinestore.com/product/reprap/tarantula-3d-printer-k… I'd honestly like to NOT give walmart money if at all possible. Also with the Lenovo's you can control the video output with the "FN" keys. Usually it's the F7 key. At least on my 430 it looks like a little projector. Tim. The drop(s) could have knocked something loose. Pull out the disk in the system might also help. Otherwise... send it to Lenovo for repair, or buy a new/used one to replace.

The screen shows no light what so ever. Power it down. Press the Novo button with a paper clip or something small. This will bring you to the Novo menu which has bios,boot,and recovery entries. ..hope this is not too off topic.. Have a friend with a Lenovo ideapad. The screen stays black and does not light up whatsoever. Would anyone have suggestions for best way to go with it? More details: The sticker on it gives further info: Windows 8, intel core i5, and Ultrabook. The power button lights up and stays on when you try to turn the unit on, as long as you keep the power cord plugged in. Apparently the battery holds no charge. The keyboard keys quickly flash once also when the start button is hit. The case does show some dents, and they say it was dropped a few times. They've tried disconnecting the battery thing with no luck. Any suggestions?

Hi Folks, A buddy of mine and I have been kicking around the idea of starting a local organization for building small robots the would be used in competitions. As a place holder name, we have chosen Autonomous Small Robot Association/Society/League. Attached is a link to a PDF file that provides a bare bones outline of the proposal. You can grow it dynamically across multiple machines for fault tolerance and performance. Logan and I have both been experimenting with Ceph. I've been playing with in my data center and Logan has gone full production at home with it as a NAS. We'll be able to talk about it's design philosophy, expandability, fault tolerance and management. I hate to admit that I'm using Kali for a daily driver, but it usually works fine. Plus, it's based on debian. Anyway, I created /etc/resolvconf containing: nameserver 8.8.8.8 and that did the trick. I have connectivity now. I still want to understand the mechanics. Hey Gang, I want to start by thanking long time member Doug Mildram for graciously offering up his home for the 20th anniversary WLUG BBQ! Date: August 10th, 2017 @ 7pm. I don't believe that Doug keeps a kosher home so please take that into consideration as well. Can you ping 8.8.8.8? If you can’t ping it, that would explain why you can’t resolve even if resolv.conf is correct. The syntax that others mentioned is good, you should be set if you can ping. If you can’t ping that, can you ping your gateway, what’s you up if you can’t? Hope that helps. I did a dist-upgrade on my computer. Afterward, I got an error related to a broken link for resolvconf. I read somewhere that the file gets created if it doesn't exist, so I unlinked and deleted the offending file (I think it was /etc/resolvconf, but I don't remember). Now I don't seem to have any DNS. I can still access my routers menu by typing in the dotted quad, but no alpha URLs. Any ideas? I entered the Google DNS addresses: 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.8.4 in the network settings GUI. That looks good, but addresses still aren't resolving.
