mozilla can't find my mail

My filesystem got crunched, and mozilla stopped seeing all my mail messages and accounts. I tried re-installing (1.3) and it still doesn't see anything. I got this error message - error occurred reading the startup config file line 258 SyntaxError: unterminated long string literal. user_pref("mail.newsrc_root"), "home/avedis/.mozi# HTTP Cookie File I'm not clear on what or where the startup config file is. Is there an easy way to save this? I'm probably going to upgrade from SuSE 7.2 to Debian 3 in about a week, so maybe it doesn't matter. I have backup copies of all my mail files on another drive, and I hope to resurrect those after I re-install everything. Instructions for doing that might be more useful. Thanks. Greg

installation of nVidia TNT2 M64 PCI video card

Hi, I have just installed the above card along side my existing AGP video card. I rebooting using the AGP card and ran Yast2 (SuSE's configuration tool) in order to configure it. Everything seemed to go well. I then rebooted the system, went into the bios and told it to boot using the PCI video card. The system detected the card. Just as SuSE started to boot the system hung right after displaying *GRUB Loading Stage2*. Any suggestions on how to resolve this would be appreciated. The system specs: SuSE 8.2 (clean install as of last week) ABIT KT7/KT7-RAID motherboard 800 mhz AMD Athlon 512mb RAM ATI Rage 128 AGP video (old) nVidia TNT2 M64 PCI video (new) Thanks, Mike

spamassassin/procmail question

I have successfully set up spamassassin on my Red Hat 8 box but I thought I'd try to install a new version so I could use the Bayesian filters. **************** Old version: After installing the rpm, all I needed was a .forward file: "| /usr/bin/spamassassin || exit 75" and I also needed to add a sym link to spamassassin in the /etc/smrsh directory. It worked fine. **************** New version 2.44 and 2.55 (I got the 2.44 from Red Hat 9, I got the 2.55 from the spamassassin web site): My email just disappears, but there are some words about needing to use procmail to invoke spamassassin. So, I changed my .forward: "|IFS=' ' && exec /usr/bin/procmail -f- || exit 75 #bcurran" And, I added a .procmailrc: :0fw: spamassassin.lock | /usr/bin/spamassassin I added /usr/bin/procmail symlink to /etc/smrsh. Seting up IPSec

Hi, I'd like to try setting up a FreeS/Wan IPSec tunnel between my network and anyone who has a static IP address for test purposes. My cable connection is assigned by DHCP, but I have a registered name for the address, sgaede.ne.client2.attbi.com. On my private subnet, I have a second PC. I can run Win98, W2K, and a couple flavors of Linux on my gateway, and Linux / Win98 on my private subnet. I've tried setting up a connection between the two boxes, but it fails because the two machines are on the same subnet... Anyone interested? Thanks, Skip

Looking for PHP/Forms help

Hi All, I've been working on a database with a web interface for the past few years in my spare time, and as you can guess, I haven't had much time lately, and they people I'm doing this for would like to get it wrapped up if possible. I'm looking for someone to help me understand/write PHP code (possibly using PHPLIB and oohforms) to add/edit/delete records in a MySQL database. This isn't really hard, except that I need to be able to add/edit varying numbers of fields in each record. For a better example, take a look at: http://jfs.ecotarium.org/AAS/john/sql-search.php and search for the name "Anderson". As you can see, records can have varying numbers of Roles, References, Addresses, etc. The searching of the DB is working just fine, as you can see, it really just needs some tweaking on the search form side, but the core is all there. I've been beating my head out with the PHPLIB oohforms stuff to try and make it so I can start out with a basic record: heading, ref, role, authority number, note and address. I need to be able to allow the user to add additional roles, references, and addresses when adding records. So does anyone out there have either: 1. good oohforms examples? 2. good ideas on what other PHP libraries I can use to make my life simpler, or ideally some code I can steal, file off the serial numbers, and re-work to do what I need? You could of just used either knoppix or cool kinux to boot of the CD drive, no need to install suse just to run reiserfsck. I have bough becuase for soem reason one works one some of my computer while ther other oen does not, dont quite understand. I ended up buying SuSE 8.2 and installing it on another drive. I then used reiserfsck that came with it to repair the partition. Big mistake, the data was lost. Now I am off to rebuild my system from backups. :(

I got the bright idea...finally...to look at the boot partition (hdb5). I ran badblock and it came back with no bad blocks. Next reiserfsck --fix-fixable /dev/hda5 was run with the following results: reiserfs_open: bitmap 0 was marked free reiserfs_open: first bitmap looks corrupted Analyzing journal..Segmentation fault Could this be why my drives are mounting as readonly? How do I correct this problem? Up to this point I have only installed SuSE and upgraded my system with SuSE upgrade tools. I am now in the process of learning how file systems work so I might as well learn how to build and install a new kernel. Can you point me to a good HOW-TO or some other documentation explaining how to upgrade a kernel or is google my best bet? I have 2 disks in my system. Disk 1(hda) has windows and SuSE7.3 installed on it. Disk 2(hdb) has SuSE 8.0. When booting SuSE8.0 it mounts the partition hdb7 ("/") as readonly. This was not the case until the system was rebooted last week. Prior to the reboot I could read and write to the partition. I was out of town when I started having connectivity issues and had the wife reboot the machine. I had ownly been accessing the machine for email and file storage and don't know what has changed. When booting into SuSE 7.3 I can mount hdb7 as rw. I believe the problem has something to do with the boot process but am not sure. Reiserfsck has been run successfully and the system is still mounting / as readonly. I have found that the /boot directory is empty and it was empty before running reiserfsck. Where do I go from here? Any guidence will be greatly appreciated, Mike

I have now been able to boot the system using another drive. The original boot drive (hda7) can be mounted successfully with the following fstab configuration: /dev/hda7 /data2 reiserfs noauto,user 0 0 When reiserfsck /data2 is run I get the following messages: reiserfs_open: bread failed reading block 16 reiserfs_open: bread failed reading block 2 reiserfs_open: neither new nor old reiserfs format found on /data2 reiserfsck: --rebuild-sb may restore reiserfs super block What are the ramifications of running this? Is this something that can cause the data on the disk to be lost? Thanks for any help, Mike
