Drive cage recommendations?

Guys, I'm looking to add one or more of those 2x5.25" bay to 3x3.5" disk cages to my main file server, which is a CoolerMaster Centurion 534 case, which has tabs in between each 5.25" bay to help hold things in place. I thought about the 3x5.25 -> 4/5x3.5" expanders, but since I have four free 5.25" slots, it makes more sense to use a pair of 2x5.25"->3x3.5" cages. Plus most of the larger expanders won't work with tabs in the case. Part of my criteria is: cost, quiet cooling fan, durability of sleds, SATA III support, abitily to replace the cooling fan if it's too loud. So here's my top four choices. The IcyDock is the most expensive by far. Not sure I'd go for it... sorta leaning towards the iStarUSA models. Thanks for listening. Thanks for the sympathy. I had Fedora Core 4 on a machine with a powerless power supply. I added that 30G hard drive to the 150G on this machine and booted from it. Low and Behold. CUPS works. SAMBA works. Will wonders never cease... I even get to choose between GNOME and KDE. Ken

I think you have a VERY Linux compatible printer. Fedora 6 problems with CUPS

Evidently FEDORA CORE 6 CUPS predates my BROTHER HL-5340D black and white laser printer. Even though it does not include this BROTHER model in its list, CUPS claims it sees the printer and that it turned the printer on. The printer fails the test page. All my documentation is out of date. SAMBA does not work. So much for my LINUX Antique Road Show. I'm going to do a bit of computer hardware upgrading..

You actually don't want samba, that would help you serve printers. You want CUPS. Cups helpsyou serve and use printers. Rememberthe URL I sent you that started with archive? Have you tried that as a repo? I've got Fedora Core 6 Evolution working so I can cut and paste. I tried to use the "retrieve update information" tool. I think everything is WAY out of date. The update tool said. "Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: extras" I can't find one either. I checked the fedora-core.repo file: $ more fedora-core.repo [core] name=Fedora Core $releasever - $basearch #baseurl=http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/$releasever/$ba search/os/ I went there and got. The requested URL no longer exists.... URL /pub/fedora/linux/core/$releasever/$bahttp://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/$releasever/$basearch/os/ was not found on this server. All I want is SAMBA to work so I can interact with the my WINDOWS machines - particularly the one with the BROTHER printer attached. Ken

*If that is an older machine with that little RAM, it will probably be more expensive to jack it up than it would be for a newer machine. I tried to go that route this past year and the cost of jacking up RAM on an older box was just prohibitive.* * * *I just got a Lenovo IdeaPad that came with 1GB of RAM and adding another gig is twelve bucks. 250GB hard drive and it had Windows 7 "Starter Edition" on it which I didn't even allow to boot up and immediately put Fedora 15 on that puppy. I have successfully installed Fedora 6 Core. I included 'programming' services. It said that it would install SAMBA. It did not. System Services mentions the need for xinetd. 'Locate' finds 'xinetd' but it does not seem to run. smbd and nmbd are nowhere to be found. Sigh..... My machine only has 256M ram memory. The higher numbered FEDORA packages ask for more ram. I have a 'good' and never before used set of Fedora 6 .iso CD-ROMs. Red Hat and Fedora have gone their separate ways. I just found http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora_Core/6/html/Installation_Guide/i…. Looks promising. Little did I know how much has changed..... Constructive suggestions would be appreciated.
