Hey now, folks, This seemed like it should be simple, but I’m at wits end. I simply want to find duplicates in the third column of a csv file, and output the duplicate line _and_ the original line that matched it. There’s a million examples out there that will output just the duplicate but not both. In the data below, I’m looking for lines that match in the 3rd column… Normal,Server,xldspntc02,,10.33.52.185, Normal,Server,xldspntc02,,10.33.52.186, Normal,Server,xldspntc04,,10.33.52.187, Normal,Server,xldspntcs01,10.33.16.198, Normal,Server,xldspntcs01,,10.33.16.199, Normal,Server,xldsps01,10.33.16.162, Normal,Server,xldsps02,10.33.16.163, My desired output would be: Normal,Server,xldspntc02,,10.33.52.185, Normal,Server,xldspntc02,,10.33.52.186, Normal,Server,xldspntcs01,10.33.16.198, Normal,Server,xldspntcs01,,10.33.16.199, $ awk -F, 'dup[$3]++' file.csv I played around with the prev variable, but could not pumb it out fully, e.g { print prev } Mike

Playing with Cinnamon last night I'm going to take the dive and throw it on a RHEL7 VM and see if I like it better than Mate. If so, I'll swap over my desktop and see... Thanks for doing some great digging on the projector stuff.. It's only 2017... Projectors should just *work*. Hey Gang, First the important details! Location: Rm 331 (Hagglund Room) @ 7PM Topic: read below... Tonight we've got a meeting! After the last meeting a couple of people were asking me questions about KVM (Kernel based Virtual Machine). New member Al Reinhart asked me a question about the best ways to run windows apps on linux, either via wine or through KVM / Oracle Virtual Box. He also mentioned Linux.Encoder (the first linux ransomware) which I didn't even know exists. Long time member Doug Mildram also wrote me about Linux Mint. A distribution I know quite well! They'll be some conversation and we'll kick off an install and talk about it's merits as a greate distribution. As usual, there'll be refreshments and snacks and afterwards we'll head to Tech for pizza! Tim, Another newbie request. Tomorrow night can you spend a few minutes talking about running Windows apps on Linux, i.e., Wine and virtual machines (my impression is VirtualBox seem to be the most popular). Last month the issue of ransomware came up and the consensus was there is none on Linux. Hey Gang, Our rescheduled meeting is tonight! Feb 16th @ 7pm. The location is changed a bit, we're going to be in the Hagglund Rm (rm 301) in the student center. Go to the top of the stairs and go to the right instead of left. I'm going to be speaking about storage protocols, ending up on iscsi. I'm then going to talk about gfs2 in particular and then show gfs2 working across two nodes. We're also going to talk in general about filesystems, LVM, partitioning, etc. I expect that latter topic is going to be come a general group topic. There will be snacks and refreshments (coke only) and afterwards we'll head down to Tech Pizza!
