I'm a new member. I'm an elem. librarian in NE, Pa. near Binghamton,ny I just got approval and installed a linux box in our library to run a couple of demo programs worldwatch clock simulator and kstars. In screen saver I now run phosphores, which I have written text for using echo and printf in a bash shell. I would like to use noseguy but don't understand how it works?? I have read it likes to run fortunes, and yet when I use either the text files or .dat it won't read.Permission denial, chmod 777== can't execute binary?? Regular text files are not parsed and it deadlocks. What do you think? Should I write a program in python to parse a text file(out of my ken). There is probably something stupid I can't see TIA Re-v

Peram, I'll ask an obvious question... You've verified that both machines running the same version of the java run time environment? Also, does the entire applet fail or does it just fail to display the graph. If so, you might have to insert some code to catch exceptions... Possibly some library has gotten mangled... Hi , I've a program that generates graphs with Java 1.3.1_01. The same program is able to generate graphs on a machine with RH 6.2 kernel 2.4.16 but it fails to generate graphs on a machine with RH 6.2 kernel 2.4.7-10 on which it used to generate before. I've installed KDE and gd thinking that something may broken in the OS on the jpegs generation part. But that doesn't seem to help. I'd appreciate if any of you gurus can guide me in this issue with your comments and suggestions. Setag Lib, Microsoft linux is very very good. I use it all the time, though I find I keep getting "SEG_HATESELF" errors all the time. Hi to you Andy too! Thank you for fast reply. I actually already got Microsoft Linux installed! It was very easy I am still having some questions though. I can't get on the internet, what is wrong? My Digital camera does not work either, why not? Also, now that we are such good friends, I would like to tell you about my late father who has recently died in Nigeria.
