They're looking to hire a mechanical engineer where I work, and talking about how a lot of the best candidates have been from WPI. That got me thinking about one guy who'd been at several meetings, and graduated maybe 2 years ago, though I don't think he was an engineering major. He had a legendary appetite and I think he moved to Nashua. I'm pretty sure his name had 2 syllables and started with 'S'. I keep thinking "Salman", but I'm pretty sure that's wrong. Who was that guy? -- Rich

July WLUG Meeting will be online tonight @7pm

Hey Gang, I'd like to start by apologizing. There's been some illness and other stuff going on and I've focused a bit less on WLUG than I'd like. Thankfully things are getting sorted out at my end and I will be focusing much more on WLUG. Tonight the meeting is going to be online. With the late announcement combined with only myself and John in person, it makes more sense to just have it online for this month. I plan on reaching out to the WPI people and seeing about doing in person meetings there for August hopefully. I'd also like to have a WLUG bbq at some point as well. We'll have our meeting at the same time and same place and like usual, it's going to be awesome. Emeritus WPI CS Faculty member looking for Linux Help in Worcester

I have an emeritus WPI Computer Science faculty member looking for Linux help in northwestern Worcester. They're having X11 issues, possibly driver-related, with an Ubuntu machine. I don't do on-the-side work like this, so I'm wondering if anyone here is interested in this sort of work? Thanks, --MCV.

Hey Everybody! We've got a meeting tonight!! Location: Hudson Public Library Time: 7pm Topic: Intel Pocket PC running RetroArch, etc. I was given four of these tiny pocket pc's. I'm going to run RetroArch on one and see what we get. I also think they'd be cool as a plex driver for a TV as well. Beyond that, there's a lot going on in the linux world, from the Intel pay for features stuff to the Nvidia opening up ( a tiny bit ). We should also talk about where we'd like to host meetings. I reached out to Frank and it looks like WPI is back on the table. Would that work better for people? See ya there! Hey Everybody! Sorry for the late meeting reminder! Yes, we do have a meeting tomorrow at the Hudson Public Library! Time: 7PM I'm hoping to be there in person, but I may have to attend virtually. I'm floundering a bit on a topic at the moment, if someone has an idea, please let me know. Next month I'd like to get Dick to talk to about the photo editing software.
