Hey Gang, Our rescheduled meeting is tonight! Feb 16th @ 7pm. The location is changed a bit, we're going to be in the Hagglund Rm (rm 301) in the student center. Go to the top of the stairs and go to the right instead of left. I'm going to be speaking about storage protocols, ending up on iscsi. I'm then going to talk about gfs2 in particular and then show gfs2 working across two nodes. We're also going to talk in general about filesystems, LVM, partitioning, etc. I expect that latter topic is going to be come a general group topic. There will be snacks and refreshments (coke only) and afterwards we'll head down to Tech Pizza! Hey Gang, This is reminder that on Thursday Feb. 9th at 7pm, we've got a WLUG Meeting! Time/Date: See above Location: WPI Student Center Mid Century Room (rm 331) Topic: GFS2 / Clustered Filesystems (and associated technologies) I'm going to be speaking about the clustering filesystem GFS2 as well as the associated infrastructure to provide shared disk to multiple hosts. So this talk is going to be about the filesystem but also about iscsi/iser/fb/IB. This will be momentary deep dive into iscsi and then we'll come up for air and talk about GFS2. There will be refreshments and snacks provided and then we'll head down for pizza. I've heard there might be weather, we'll play it by ear. I feel compelled to point out now... that the thing I built could best be described as a Lovecraftian horror... a swirling mass of howling mouths and staring eyes... I'm interested in hesring about GFS, and have been interested since I started compiling my own kernels and saw the option. Talk away! Hey Gang, Our next meeting is the 9th! I've been doing some interesting work on the clustering filesystem GFS2 if people would be interested in that... iscsi/iser infiniband using a 100gb file in tmpfs on one machine as a filesystem device on three other machines. So, I can talk cogently about setting up icsi, setting up gfs2 and about tuning such a thing. I also wrote a filesystem testing tool called "death by infinite paper cuts" to iterat I've still got my git methodology slides if people are interested in that as well. I was given a kinect to play with. Though I've got two weeks I might be able to do something interesting with that!
