Sounds like a fun time - how much are you looking for it? I'm in New York for the next week but I'm planning on coming back this weekend. ________________________________ From: wlug-bounces(a)mail.wlug.org <wlug-bounces(a)mail.wlug.org> on behalf of E Johnson <iris.gates(a)gmail.com> Sent: Sunday, March 4, 2018 7:23:38 PM To: Worcester Linux Users Group Subject: [Wlug] 21.5" Acer Monitor needs work I have another dead monitor to give away. This is the Acer S220HQL, that was notorious several years ago for blowing bad capacitors. This is a 21.5" flatscreen, matte finish screen (not shiny-glarey), with both DVI and VGA inputs. This was working rock-solid until Friday night when it was sleeping, flashed for a second, and then black-screened. Crisp, sharp display always. Used daily but lightly (for second computer) since I got my newer monitor a few years ago, but almost always on, just sleeping most of the time. These are still running in the $90-100 range on the bigger online retailers. You would need a soldering iron, and to open it up, find which capacitors are bad (usually they look kind of distorted or bulging), and then purchase and replace these. This one lasted several years --I think about 3 years longer than its twin, which I gave away several years ago after its capacitors blew. If you want it, I would appreciate it if you aren't planning to Ebay it or whatever, but use it personally or else give it to a youngester who needs it for school. I am conveniently located near Elm Park in Worcester, not far from WPI. Liz J

ROCA site and Key testing
by Tim Keller Feb. 21, 2018

Feb. 21, 2018

Eric Martin forwarded me some info about the ROCA stuff from last night. It was pretty cool to see Nick do his thing on the whiteboard... I'd like to claim I followed it all, but that would be a lie! Here's the link to the ROCA stuff: https://dan.enigmabridge.com/roca-critical-vulnerability-in-infineon-securi… The other conversation that happened last night surrounded very weak public keys. https://keytester.cryptosense.com Lets you test your keys to see if they're easily factored. Enjoy! Tim. -- I am leery of the allegiances of any politician who refers to their constituents as "consumers".

I know that there was talk of possibly changing the WLUG meeting date from Thursday February 8th to Tuesday February 20th, but I did not hear if this change is confirmed or not. Feb 8th is still listed on the google calendar/WLUG site. So wondering which day will the new meeting be? -Ron

Re: [Wlug] Next meeting day question...

The calendar on the website is a Google Calendar. Tim, Frank, and myself have access to change the calendar from any Google calendar client, including google.com/calendar. I recommend Jorte on Android, but the built-in Google calendar on Android should work fine as well. Ideally, whomever reserves a room and/or announces a meeting date/time/topic would update the calendar at the same time. Just change "only this event" so as to not mess up the default recurring schedule. The calendar is public so anyone can subscribe to it so it shows up on their own personal device(s): https://calendar.google.com/calendar?cid=bzVvc3E4NTBsazYxZThoMW4xbzFybGRiNz… Tuesday Feb 20th works for me.
