Hey Everybody! We've got a meeting this week! Date: July 10th, 2025 @ 7PM Location: Technocopia, 44 Portland St. Worcester MA. Virtual Location: https://meet.jit.si/WlugMA Topic: I could talk about TrueNAS if people were interested in that, otherwise, this might be a bit of a freeform meeting. The other thing that I've been doing lately is turning Pi's into kiosk displays.. but that's going to take about 10 minutes to explain.. If someone has something they really want to talk about let me know! As usual we'll head off to dinner afterwards and keep talking. See you there! Hey Everybody! Fellow WLUG member Evan White has asked his friend Xavier to speak at WLUG and he's graciously agreed. Xavier Ruis is one of the organizers of the Boston Typescript club and will be giving a talk about the Nix Package manager! https://nixos.org/ Nix is a packaging system that allows for the creation of "declarative builds and deployments" It works on all the distros as well as the NixOS linux distribution. Hey Everybody! We've got a meeting this week! Time: 7pm Date: May 29th, 2025 Location: Technocopia Virtual Location: https://meet.jit.si/WlugMA Topic: BeeLink Mini-PC Presenter: John Stoffel. Long time WLUG member John Stoffel has graciously agreed to show off his new, small, but mighty desktop. We'll put it through its paces with a couple quick demos and tests. Along with his mini pc, he's also got QLC+ lighting control software and an LED instrument with RGBW Leds in it to demo and show off it being controlled by a linux system. QLC+ has slowed down in development lately, but it's an interesting alternative to QLAB when you don't have a Mac, and Qlab only runs on Macs. As usual, we'll head off for dinner afterwards to keep the conversation going. Later, Tim.

We'll put it through its paces with a couple quick demos and tests. We'll likely get OpenWebUI running on it, as well as Cadoodle. I recently started (trying!) to use a glove80 keyboard so I'll bring that along so people can give it a try as well. As usual, we'll head off for dinner afterwards to keep the conversation going. John texted me this morning that there's a nor'easter on the way. The weather people, who are using Linux to run the large models are predicting heavy rain and winds, localized flooding, etc. I care more about the members of this group than keeping to a schedule. Next Month on the 2nd and 3rd Thursdays I have conflicts. So.. the next possible Thursday would be the 22nd.. Another option is that we shift the meeting to Wednesday for this month on the 14th? I know that isn't an "Free Hack" day at Technocopia, but I think we can work something out. What would people like to do? IPv6, are you using it, should we be using it?

I’ve been adding more and more matter/thread devices to my home and since I’ve seen more local ipv6 addresses I’ve tried enabling Ipv6 fully. BUT, Ive had struggles adding matter devices. Is this just older hardware choices like we have to create a 2.4 GHz only network? Is the world of devices not yet ready for IPv6? What are your thoughts on it? Steve Thibault
