This is a contract consulting position for a Sr. Linux IT Administrator.
The position will be responsible for an analysis, implementation, and
maintenance recommendations of Walchem’s data security and integrity needs.
Systems for data security and integrity:
Initial analysis of Walchem’s backup and security needs for existing
Linux servers and tape library. (including written recommendations)
Upon successful review of recommendations, implement backup and security
scheme
Supply written recommendations for proactive ongoing maintenance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Fundamental knowledge of Linux Servers (Currently using Ubuntu 6.06 with
a 2.6.15 kernel)
Demonstrated experience with the setup and administration of Linux
backup system(s) (tape with library)
Demonstrated experience with Linux security administration
Knowledge of Apache (currently using 2.0.55)
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Knowledge of MySQL, Bugzilla, and Subversion a plus
Possibility for ongoing scheduled proactive maintenance contract
according to agreed upon schedule:
Reviewing error logs
Reviewing security updates and applying as necessary
Verifying statuses of all critical services
Verifying backup system is working
Provide written report on activities including any recommendations for
changes to the systems
