My problem is that I understand the details of neither the kernel nor the sound card. I think everyone's advice is to: [rpm -e kernel-devel] and [rpm -ihv kernel-2.6.18-1.2849.fc6.src.rpm]. The try again according to the alsa WEB page. Sound right? Ken

Prior to this point I had had some problems An error message kept saying that it could not find my Linux/version.h file. I did a 'locate' command and got three locations. I do not know what to make of all this. I have a SoundBlaster Live sound card. The driver is emu10k1. ALSA provides some modules that need to be built into the kernel. No matter what I do the builds can not find the appropriate version.h file. I am trying to build the kernel from kernel-devel-2.6.18-1.2849.fc6. Previous Core versions provided a kernel-source rpm. reiserfs corruption....

Hi all, After a nasty power problem, I have corruption on a reiserfs volume. What I did: http://toba.ath.cx:724/~eastein/reiserfsck.txt I think I may have a damaged drive. The scariest prospect: Bad root block 0. (--rebuild-tree did not complete) Any ideas? Eric
