installing Bugzilla

I missed the last install-fest, and am anxiously awaiting the next one. I'm considering deploying Bugzilla in my group, and was wondering if anyone has experience installing it, or even opinions about using it. The doc sends mixed messages about the complexity of the install: "Bugzilla is not a package where you can just plop it in a directory, twiddle a few things, and you're off." and then later on... "Installation of Bugzilla is pretty straightforward." The doc also makes it pretty clear that it'll run on Windows, but that there's additional complexity. It even sounds like it'll be easier to install on OSX than on Win2k, and that's fine with me. thanks in advance for any opinions, Rick Gansler

Gary, I own the same router as you and I've got 2 linux boxes (one is pure, the other is duel boot). I just have static host files because the router has a sane DHCP server that assigns based on MAC address, so all your machines will keep the same address, regardless of OS. DCHP Private IP Hostname Resolution

Greetings, I suspect this is an easy fix but somehow I can't find it.... I just installed a Netgear RP114 DSL router and I'm letting it set my private IPs with DCHP. My problem is that I need to resolve the hostnames between the 3 Linux machines on my private lan and the router isn't doing that. When they are booted in Windows the DCHP table shows the IP and hostname of each PC, but when booted in Linux the router doesn't resolve the hostname to IP...so when I ping a hostname I get nothing. Any ideas? Thanks! -- Gary

Raw IO Howto

Folks, I'd like to be able to queue read/write request to my Zip drive and bypass the buffering that goes on in the kernel. From what I've read, you can do this by binding the raw device (/dev/raw) to /dev/hdc1 for example. When I do that, I get a message that /dev/raw/raw1 has ben bound to char major 22 1. When I try open("/dev/raw/raw1",O_RDWR|O_CREAT,S_IREAD|S_IWRITE); it fails. Can someone tell me how to do this please? Thanks, Skip

irda help

Hi gang, I've finally gotten the irDa stack working in my dell laptop (why, oh why is it disabled by default in the BIOS?). Here's my problem; I'm having trouble having the ppp connection being authenticated when a connection is made. My iPaq connects, has the host name of my laptop ok; but stalls there. I've followed the steps on the ir-howto, and it's what got me to this point, but there's no troubleshooting help for this particular problem. Here's the command I run to start the attachement... irattach /dev/ttyS2 -s 1 At this point my iPaq tries to authenticate, and then stalls. I would REALLY like to be able to transfer data between my iPaq and my laptop; and since I haven't heard of anyone being able to connect an iPaq to Linux via a USB cable, this looks like my best shot (besides, I really want to learn ir so I can control my TV from my laptop). Anyone got some ideas, if you help me solve it I'll try and submit something to the HOWTO so others can work around it. Wes

Hello, I am trying to get my copy of Netscape to work. when I go to access any website, it gives message that it can not reach a specific server. I have the dns servers for my ISP but how do I configure Netscape to use them? Thanks.
