She likes writing Go, building Lego spaceships, and predicting how things will break.” “Does technical debt turn your small changes into minefields? Does your production environment expect perfect humans? This talk highlights tools, configuration and documentation that set us up for failure. It advocates for removing traps, so that you don’t have to waste brain cycles on remembering where they are. And it offers practical advice for sending your future self (and future coworkers!) gifts, instead of post mortems that just say “human error :-(”. Includes stories of preventable outages. Bring your schadenfreude.” We will be announcing some new great things going on later as the conference gets closer. One of the things that was brought up in the feed back from the past few years is a get together on Thursday night for those in the area or arriving early so we will be opening up the bag stuffing party to all. Friday night we will have the Birds-Of-a-Feathers again this year as well as a Cards Against Humanity game for anyone who wants to join and a few more fun things that make LOPSA-East different from other area conferences. Yes, that's what I was doing but after I chose this the Mint installer wasn't seeing any partitions. Removed GPT record with gdisk and that fixed it. Yeah, I should know better. I was beat up and frustrated at the time. Sorry. The root of my problem was that I couldn't find any options in the BIOS to manipulate the Secure Boot/UEFI/Legacy stuff. However, I found them this morning after I selected an option that I assumed to be unrelated which unlocked them. Thank you, Gigabyte. So I'm making progress now but I'm still not out of the woods yet. I've got Windows installed with space partitioned for LM but now I'm working on getting the installer to recognize the Windows partition. It thinks I have the entire disk available. Damn. Gigabyte is usually a good bet, but I'm sure the crack monkeys who write the firmware and setup the menus weren't thinking well that day. You have turned off secure boot, right? Which OS is working right now? Can you run grub manually from the UEFI prompt? Can you get to the UEFI prompt? Are you trying to install Windows second after a successful Linux install? Have you considered picking one OS, then running the other in a virtual machine?
