Hey there, I want to preface this by saying that I have no specific experience in an embedded Linux development environment. That said, I have written Linux device drivers (PCMCIA) in the past, and I have extensive embedded development experience in my current position. (I can send you my CV, if that would help.) What is the duration/onsite requirement of the project? I am currently working full-time, but could be enticed away for a long-term contract, or I could do some on-the-side sort of work if the workload was less intense. Just putting out feelers. Tektronix printers are notoriously expensive... i.e our printer here costs a 1.50 everytime you hit the print button (but it'll print poster quality images) you might have good luck selling them on Ebay... I have never done it myself, but you can take the knoppix cd and add your own software too it, then "remake" the knoppix cd. With Fedora Core 3 there have been vast improvements in the area of hardware hotplugging, detection, and configuration integrated with the desktop. There is still more work to do, but it is getting better all the time. I'm not aware specifically of which USB adapters work best. I've never messed with wireless (yet) but my first thought would be to try it with a wire, and see if you can get to the internet. That would rule out a bunch of stuff. I'm using SuSe 9.1 and 8.2 on different boxes, and they both connected easily to the internet. One thing I've noticed, and I don't know why, sometimes I have to turn off susefirewall and then turn right back on to connect to the network. free tek340/350/360 ink cartridges

Corporate antics....i.e. someone left behind (for me to get rid of or trash) mass quantities of new INK colorstix/cartridges for a Tektronix Phaser 340/350/360 printer....which I've never seen. Do you have wlan-ng installed? You will need to know what driver the adapter needs. networking for dummies

Hi All, I have a wireless network established at home using the latest version of a certain very widely used operating system whose name I dare not speak. I've been trying for years to "convert" to Linux, mostly for ideological reasons, but without much luck. I've succesfully installed a few distributions of Linux onto various PC's (mostly older), and I can play CD's and use office software with no problem. The real deal-breaker (the reason I haven't started using linux except as a novelty) is that I've never gotten the internet to work with Linux. With that other OS, installation of a wireless adapter is easy, and the OS generally recognizes it instantly. Are there any linux distros that will do the same thing (perhaps in conjunction with certain wireless adapters) ? Right now I have SUSE 9.1 (Home) running, and when I plug in a USB wireless adapter, nothing happens, and I can't figure out what to do. Any advice will be appreciated. Live Distro with VPN support

I apologize if this has already been discussed, but after some cursory googling and searching I haven't found an answer yet. I am the "computer guy" for our heating oil company. The heating oil software is running on a SCO box, and everyone in the office connects to it over our Windows network. After hours people need to connect to the SCO box to check customer information. Currently they do it through their own windoze PCs with their own high speed internet, or through a company laptop through dial up. Using their own high speed access makes things much quicker and we have subsidized access for some of the people. But since it is windows, their PCs are often screwed up, and I get many after hours calls saying, "I can't connect to the VPN or I can't connect to the Internet". I have played with Knoppix and absolutely love how it can recognize hardware, and I have installed Suse on a home system to play with for myself, but I have little knowledge of Linux. Is their a live CD like Knoppix that has microsoft VPN support, that the remote users can pop it in their system, restart, connect to the microsft VPN and open a terminal window to the SCO box? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Sean Flynn
