The src.rpm isn't really what you want here... You want the kernel-devel package. If you have yum set up, just yum install kernel-devel. There was a a time when "all you needed" to build kernel modules was in the kernel rpm but iirc people complained about the size so it got split out. > > Since then I have been thrashing around without success. Help with Fedora Core3 -> Core4

by Ken Jones

Yesterday I transitioned from Core3 to Core4. My sound disappeared. Core4 is shipped without the kernel source code. I have a special sound driver for my Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live EMU10k1X card. The driver is Open Sound System from <http://www.opensound.com/>. It needs to be compiled with the kernel. I sent the soundconfig.log to the Help Desk. --------------Open Sound's Help Desk wrote---------------- Hi, You don't have the kernel source RPM, otherwise OSS would not be complaining: > make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.15-1.1833_FC4/source: No such file or directory. Stop. > make: [ossbuild] Error 2 (ignored) > make -C /lib/modules/`uname -r`/source SUBDIRS=/usr/lib/oss/kbuild CC="gcc" modules > make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.15-1.1833_FC4/source: No such file or directory. Stop. Please install the kernel source RPM and then get the REGPARM version of OSS. ---------------------end snip---------------------------------------- I downloaded and installed <kernel-2.6.15-1.1833_FC4.src.rpm>. Since then I have been thrashing around without success. I would appreciate an email from anyone who has a moment to help. It does not seem appropriate to foist further details onto this whole list. When I saw the last message, I started to make plans to go to WPI tomorrow, but further investigation shows that people have been replying to Andy's message without changing the subject line, even though it is now totally wrong in two different ways--- It's a false statement and not the topic of the message. -- Keith

I find that for doing multiple edits on a single line on a single pass its best to use awk. -Jared On 3/1/06, douglas.r.aker(a)verizon.com <douglas.r.aker(a)verizon.com> wrote: > > > Thanks Jared and Frank for your quick responses. > > The solution, it turns out, had nothing to do with RE's, but rather with > input lines and files. > > I'm dealing with multi-line, comma-separated-value records, using Perl > programs to convert them to single line records, change bare carriage-return > characters to newline characters and eventually remove extraneous trailing > commas, e.g. ...,"Moe, Larry, Curly, ",... Bluetooth hardware recomendations

by Karl Hiramoto

I need a blue tooth interface for my PC, and wondering if anyone has any brands, or hardware chip sets to recommend. I will probably buy a USB or PCMCIA interface. Buying something USB though would allow me to use it in both my desktop and laptop, where only my laptop has PCMCIA. Bluetooth devices i want to hook too, claims it is something like rs-232 serial output over bluetooth, but i gota figure that out. After that i may try with a digicam or mobile phone. -- --- Karl Hiramoto <karl(a)hiramoto.org> http://karl.hiramoto.org/ Yahoo_IM = karl_hiramoto GTalk%3Dkarl.hiramoto(a)gmail.com ------

Thanks Andre. You know, last night I was looking for a good table showing ascii codes. That ascii man page is a nice tip. Octal escapes are one way: perl -pe 's/, \042/\042/g' See the ASCII(7) man page for octal and hex codes. --Andre __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam?
