HT Receiver

Hello folks, I hope I'm not breaking protocol for posting this but I'm replacing my home theater receiver and looking to sell my current unit so I thought I would offer it here. I think it's a good deal for anyone who doesn't need the very latest HT specs. I bought it new for $1100 when it was first made available about three years plus ago and it works as good as the day it was purchased. It's a Yamaha RX-A1020 and the product page can be found here: http://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-visual/aventage/rx-a1020_black_u/ As I type this there are new models on eBay for $699 and a used model for $550. Linker error: DSO missing from command line

Hi Everybody, I have received a few reports indicating that xlog will not compile without error from the source tarball. Since I'm the xlog maintainer, I get to fix it, but so far, I've been unsuccessful. The error looks like this, and I've easily reproduced it on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS: /usr/bin/ld: gui_gtkprintdialog.o: undefined reference to symbol 'trunc@@GLIBC_2.2.5' //lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6: error adding symbols: DSO missing from command line I've traced this to recently modified behavior of gcc, where all libraries needed to properly link the executable must be included on the command line. In this case, "-lm" is not explicitly on the command line, and thus the error. I have succeeded in making it work in this way, but it is just a workaround: ./configure LIBS="-lm" make make install It seems that automake 1.15 is needed to help get around this issue, and that version is part of Ubuntu 16.04. However, I'm stuck, trying to figure out the "right way" to fix this. I've googled for a couple of hours, trying to figure out what needs to go into configure.ac and/or Makefile.am, to no avail. I tried this in configure.ac: LT_LIB_M (nope) I tried this in Makefile.am: LIBS=-lm (nope) I also tried this in Makefile.am: LDFLAGS = -lm (nope) In each case, I reran autoconf, automake, and then ./configure, but the linker error persists. Here's the details: Date & Time: June 9th, 2016 @ 7pm Location: WPI Atwater-kent Rm 232 Topic: Back from the Dead: Projects that maddog is working on, and why you should care Abstract: Only a month after a massive heart attack maddog will be talking about some of the projects he is working on: (1) Rebooting the Linux Professional Institute (and why you should care) (2) Selling small computers in Brazil (and why you should care) (3) Creating jobs for the jobless and help for the clueless (and why you should care) NOTE: John has informed me he needs to head off right after the meeting... So I'm going to arrange to have some pizza delivered! I expect that after the meeting we're going to head off to wooberry or elsewhere for dessert. Who is Jon "Maddog" Hall? Jon "maddog" Hall is the Chairman of the Board of the Linux Professional Institute, and the President of Linux International. Since 1969, Mr. Hall has been a programmer, systems designer, systems administrator, product manager, technical marketing manager, author and educator. He currently works as an independent consultant, and is involved with bringing environmentally friendly computing to emerging marketplaces as well as working on performance and educational issues with Free and Open Source Software via the Linaro Association. He is also closely aligned with LeMaker, a design center located in Shengen, China. While not a founding member of LPI, maddog helped formulate some of the concepts and donated personal money to allow the first 200 tests be tested for psychometrics. Mr. Hall has worked for such companies as Western Electric Corporation, Aetna Life and Casualty, Bell Laboratories, Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), VA Linux Systems, SGI, Futura Networks (Campus Party) and Linaro. Mr. Hall has taught at Hartford State Technical College (HSTC), Merrimack College and Daniel Webster College. While at HSTC his students gave him the nickname of "maddog", and he developed the skills necessary for talking to university students over pizza and beer. Mr Hall has worked on many different operating systems (MFT, MVT, VS1, VS2, MVS, CP-67, VM/CMS, RSTS/E, RSX-11M, CP/M) but concentrated on Unix systems since 1980 and Linux systems since 1994, when he first met Linus Torvalds and correctly recognized the commercial importance of Linux and Free and Open Source Software. Mr. Hall obtained a DEC "Alpha" system for Linus Torvalds and organized and engineering team which helped the Linux community to port Linux to the world's fastest 64-bit microcomputer. Since 2006 Mr. Hall has been working on Project Cauā, which will large numbers of high-tech jobs allowing students who could not afford to attend university to both attend university and get real-life job experience. Mr. Hall is the author of numerous magazine and newspaper articles, many presentations and one book, "Linux for Dummies". He currently writes a blog for Linux Pro Magazine. Mr. Hall has consulted with the governments of China, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Brasil as well as the United Nations and many local and state governments on the use of Free and Open Source Software. Mr. Hall serves on the boards of several companies, and several non-profit organizations. He is currently very active with the University of Sao Paulo's Centro Interdisciplinar Em Tecnologias Interativas (CITI), acting as a member of their advisory board. He is currently very active with the University of Sao Paulo's Centro Interdisciplinar Em Tecnologias Interativas (CITI), acting as a member of their advisory board. He currently works as an independent consultant, and is involved with bringing environmentally friendly computing to emerging marketplaces as well as working on performance and educational issues with Free and Open Source Software via the Linaro Association. He is also closely aligned with LeMaker, a design center located in Shengen, China. While not a founding member of LPI, maddog helped formulate some of the concepts and donated personal money to allow the first 200 tests be tested for psychometrics. Mr. Hall has worked for such companies as Western Electric Corporation, Aetna Life and Casualty, Bell Laboratories, Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), VA Linux Systems, SGI, Futura Networks (Campus Party) and Linaro. Mr. Hall has taught at Hartford State Technical College (HSTC), Merrimack College and Daniel Webster College. While at HSTC his students gave him the nickname of "maddog", and he developed the skills necessary for talking to university students over pizza and beer. Mr Hall has worked on many different operating systems (MFT, MVT, VS1, VS2, MVS, CP-67, VM/CMS, RSTS/E, RSX-11M, CP/M) but concentrated on Unix systems since 1980 and Linux systems since 1994, when he first met Linus Torvalds and correctly recognized the commercial importance of Linux and Free and Open Source Software. Mr. Hall obtained a DEC "Alpha" system for Linus Torvalds and organized and engineering team which helped the Linux community to port Linux to the world's fastest 64-bit microcomputer. Since 2006 Mr. Hall has been working on Project Cauā, which will large numbers of high-tech jobs allowing students who could not afford to attend university to both attend university and get real-life job experience. Mr. Hall is the author of numerous magazine and newspaper articles, many presentations and one book, "Linux for Dummies". He currently writes a blog for Linux Pro Magazine. Mr. Hall has consulted with the governments of China, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Brasil as well as the United Nations and many local and state governments on the use of Free and Open Source Software. Mr. Hall serves on the boards of several companies, and several non-profit organizations. He is currently very active with the University of Sao Paulo's Centro Interdisciplinar Em Tecnologias Interativas (CITI), acting as a member of their advisory board. Mr. Hall has traveled to over 100 countries, many more than one time, speaking on the benefits of Open Source Software having received his BS in Commerce and Engineering from Drexel University (1973), and his MSCS from RPI in Troy, New York (1977). In his spare time maddog is working on his retirement project: maddog's monastery and marina for math, music, micro-computing, micro-brewery, micro-winery, micro-distilery, and bait shop.
