I doubt that Plex has some limitation related to browsing 5 directories deep. I'm curious what file system you've used on that 2.7T drive. I know I've written things to ext3 and ext4 drives, reinstalled a linux distro with my usual usernames (but randomly generated UID!) and been unable to browse my reused storage media. This isn't a issue with a VFAT drive, because those files don't have an owner. See if your user account can browse that directory structure? Maybe you will have to chown all the folders and files on that drive. Does Plex run as its own UID, or does it use your usual user one? (This question implies Plex is a server running on this machine, is that the case, or are you using the Plex app on another device?) Plex media drive mount point

I blew away my Linux Mint installation today and installed Manjaro. All my media for my Plex server was on a separate drive that was mounted at /Media. Now it's at /run/media/richspk/Media/, and Plex can't see anything below richspk. My /etc/fstab is much more spartan than I'd expected. sda is a Windows install, sdb is media, and sdc is the Manjaro install. Should I add /Media (sdb) to /etc/fstab, or should I mount it some other way? Yes. If you want to test with a test router and test network, then you need to set up a test network and plug a test system into it. If you have this now: realsystem---[REAL-LAN switch]---[REAL-LAN-interface realrouter REAL-WAN-interface]---Internet REAL-LAN-interface is presumably 192.168.1.1/24. REAL-WAN-interface is whatever your ISP gave you. Tim, I'm glad you feel that way about it! The /sysroot upgrading process is one of my favorite features about Silverblue, as you gain some of thebenefits of COW snapshots without relying on a particular filesystem(example: https://github.com/openSUSE/snapper) GRUB is also enhanced where instead of selectinga different kernel, you're booting into an entirely different /sysroot complete with kernel, libc, drivers,firmware, etc. all of which are tagged under one discrete OS version string. This design shouldmake bug fixing a lot easier as a user may only need to attach the OS version string when filing a bugreport, and a developer could boot up that particular version inside a VM. This update model should alsoeliminate variance between "not updated" and "fully updated" like we see with traditional packagemanagement where a package mirror might not have synced all of the latest packages. The rollback mechanism is also quite innovative, which Silverblue can get for free by designing updatesthat perform the equivalent of `git checkout ${BRANCH}`. Ideas for the next WLUG meeting

As mentioned before, I think we could examine technologies that'd be beneficial to Linux on the desktop, like comparing packaging technologies including Flatpak, Snap, and AppImage. I think we could also look into the future of containers on the desktop as a whole with projects like Flatpak, toolbox, podman, and Silverblue. My workflow over the past few years has been using these upcoming technologies as daily drivers as they lead to saner development. For example, my laptop runs Silverblue ( https://fedoramagazine.org/what-is-silverblue/) which is a Fedora variant designed around immutability where a new system image is committed as the new /sysroot without affecting the state of the running system. This is reminiscent of Android A/B updates, although the update backend -- ostree -- has elements of a version control system like git. I have a 10 inch simple mode, no wifi or touch screen, pictures fed by sd card sneaker net. Device was around $70 on Amazon recently. Can share the specific model tomorrow if people are interested. Actually support three picture frames, one at each grandma house too. Update photos onto 4gb sd cards twice per year. Works great for a random screen saver like show. All can see the transition of our cute kid into a gangly tween. Which is partly why I'd like a touch screen, since the wife expressed frustration with the current crappy one we have which you can't look back easily at a picture which just passed. I do have a dead nexus tablet which probably just needs a new battery... but again I don't want to have to write anything for it. Not my interest... But thanks for the ideas! Photo Frames

Hi all, I'm looking for a photo frame for the family. I *hate* the model where you have to email/upload photos to some site so they can curate them. I do like the idea of a touch screen, so you can scroll back if you see a photo you like. I'd like a nice display, with subtle cropping if needed of images. I've looked on Aamzon.com, but got lost in the weeds, and I've also looked at "The Wirecutter" but the review is a bit old and not really too useful. But maybe I'm too harsh on the upload model, but how many times have I seen companies get bought out and shutdown? Especially for something like this which will probably be around for ages. So my vague requirements: 1. local photo storage 2. touch screen control 3. automatic dimming/brightening and ideally power off when no one is around. 4. 10" in size approx. 5. IPS display for the widest possible angles and best colors. 6. High Resolution display. 7. If it has Wifi for remote photo adding, I want them to download to the frame, so that if the Wifi goes out, it's not a problem. And I really hate small remotes that get lost. I'm torn though, because I'd like to give one to my Dad who doesn't live near me so I can easily send pictures... but I hate the idea of remote sites which can and do go away without warning. But what really gets me is the controls on the back, useless! I'd like it to look like a photo frame, but *some* controles so I can swipe through photos easily. Sorta like a big cell phone. I've looked at the reviews on: tomsguide.com reviewlab.com thewirecutter.com I'm really tepted by the "PhotoSpring 10-inch Digital Frame" for the touchscreen options, but strongly dislike that there's no local storage, you have to upload to the cloud. "Nix Advance 8-Inch Digital Photo Frame" doesn't have Wifi, and uses a remote. So I like that it's not cloud based... but for remote family members it won't work as well. And probably a bit small.
