Hi, When i pop my mail i create a tunnel through ssh, and pop through that. Using this command "ssh -C -f me(a)pop.myserver -L 10110:pop.myserver:110 sleep 30" Well every time i create the tunnel i have to enter my password for the pop server. Is there a way to use ssh tools so i don't have to enter my password? I'm using kmail is that's relevant. Thanks, --Brad

Preliminary version of both are in the works, and I believe printing is in the latest build of OpenOffice, though I've never used it. Sun is supposed to be releasing StarOffice 6 sometime soon, which I would guess would include these extras and be somewhat based on OpenOffice, but I've only heard rumors back and forth to that end. RE: [Wlug] Memory issues

by Guilderson, Tom W.

Are you positive that the problem is memory and not CPU? Most decoding of audit and video is very cpu intensive. If the audio/video app gets swapped out (of the cpu), you can notice choppiness in quality. A good graphical tool such as Xosview can give you an indication where the bottleneck might be since you can see CPU, memory, swap, disk, etc. all at once and see what is pegged. > > michaellong> Is there a way to reserve a block of memory when starting > michaellong> realaudio. Thanks!

by Doctor Orbitz

Hey, thanks alot all of you who went to http://orbitz.dyn.dhs.org/test.php. For those of you wondering why the heck I'd ask a such a thing, here is an explination. A friend of mine got a cool (but I'm assuming not very new idea) for passive OS detection through version strings on network software, in this case web browsers. What the php script does is log all of your version (User-Agent header) strings to a file, then by doing some greps and sort I create a wonderful list of all the strings. Then I use a perl script i made to convert the version strings to snort (www.snort.org) rule sets. So now when people visit http://orbitz.dyn.dhs.org/ and they are using a web browser in my data base, I can log what OS, web browser, and whatelse is in the header. So the bigger the database, the more people I can pick up. Its a pretty cool idea I think. There are other ways (probably simpler and more efficient) of doing this. Such as possible an apache mod. Thanks again, Orbitz

When you say your system is running out of free memory, on what are you basing that statement? The output of free? Much of what is in memory is cached. If it wasn't, performance would suck. Thus, the "free" field should report very little if your OS is being at all effective at memory management. One other question, what kernel version are you running? Regards, Jeff

Is there a way to reserve a block of memory when starting realaudio. I have noticed that when my system is running out of free memory the audio quality goes to sh*t as the open application fight over resources.
