How about xscreensaver + all the plugins. cdparanoia + lame is a must (forget if that was metnioned or not). For coolnes i'm a big fan of Xplanet for my wallpaper. Maybe Blender for those 3d Artists, although i doubt many people woudl use it. I hear curl is pretty cool. A whole art section would actually be nice. The GIMP/Blender/xv. While these come with most distros, it's nice to just have a central place for them. A X11 true type fontserver + fonts would be nice. HOWTO's upto ying-yang too. Just a list off the top of my head. Tim, Star Office 6.0 isn't downloadable right now, but Open Office is. And the latest build of Open Office is actually further along in development than the 6.0 beta; I'd include that on any "killer apps" cd for sure. I'm not sure what would be considered the "top" perl modules. if you goto cpan.perl.org they've got like 3000 perl modules to choose from... If Mike or someone feels inclined to make me a tarball of the "top 50" I'd gladly put them on the cd. As it stands this is what we've got. Alsa drivers, stable and development Kernel 2.4.17 rdesktop (lets you access windows 2000 terminal services) TightVNC (client and server) + docs UltraMaster RS101 StarOffice 5.2 (6.0 isn't available anymore...) Latest build of Wine gPhoto + libusb Mplayer / Xine / libdvdcss xmame acrobat gaim Mozilla Netscape Opera XMMS + lots of plugins ogg-vorbis (RC3) Java / flash / realplayer plugins for mozilla/netscape If people think I'm missing something, our you've got a killer app you think people should have... let me know. I've still got only got about 1/2 a cd. Id just like to introduce myself.

by luke macneil

Greetings, I am a fellow Linux enthusiast new to this group. I have previously spent my time working in #linuxpeople on dalnet to help out newbies get they're systems installed and configured. Ive begun to compile a list of newbie oriented tutorials.. and other things of the sort. Id like to get more involved in the community in a more "hands on" sort of way. Anyway, Ill try to make it to the installfest this Saturday, and I thank you all for being here.
