KDE 3.0.1

HI gang, I had installed KDE 3.0 as part of my upgrade to SuSE 8.0 and was quite unhappy with the frequency of crashes with Konqueror (multiple times nightly). Well, I've just upgraded to KDE 3.0.1 and have been using Konqueror for over an hour without a crash. Things are looking up! D-Link Fast ethernet adapter

Hi all, I got mdk 7.2 installed on a Toshiba Satellite, everything works great except the networking =[ I have a D-Link Fast Ethernet PCMCIA adapter. Model no: DFE-670TXD. I can't seem to get Linuux to recognize it :( Has anyone got one of these successfully working?? If so please let me know how. Thanks

Well considering the hardware, I'm impressed that you've got it cooking at all. As far as termination goes, there's really only one place to check. It sounds to me like you've got a single scsi device on that chain. Since the AIC 78xx auto terminate their end by default, that shouldn't be a problem, so all you have to do is double check that the drive itself is either properly set up to terminate the chain or that there is a terminator after it. You can also play with the powered termination if that drive supports it, but I honestly have never been able to figure out when that is necesary, and when it isn't. Just as an FYI ... I had the exact same problem with my 386 back in the day, where it would just freak out every so often. After moving that drive off of the wimpy little trantor card that it was on, and putting it in a real case (with better cooling) I never recieved the errors again. So to sum up. Check to make sure the drive is staying cool. Check to make sure the drive is terminated. Play with termination power to see if it makes that problem go away. And when all else fails, say f**k it, and just live with the random log messages. Hope that helps a little. How about looking at icecast. Shoutcast can only stream off of a windows box (but can be listened to on windozs and *nix). icecast will play off of linux boxes (and can be listened to on windoze and *nix). Streaming audio from sound card...

Any recommendations on what to use as a server app to stream audio from a sound card input? I'm looking to send an MP3-encoded stream from a police scanner radio over an internal network. I need to be able to use WinAmp and XMMS as clients. Been searching around and see lots of choices but looking for recommendations on a simple and stable solution. driftnet

I just installed driftnet (http://www.ex-parrot.com/~chris/driftnet/) on a whim, but I can't seem to get it to show me any graphics, and I'm fairly sure there is some going by. I'm running RedHat 7.1. Here's the command I'm running as root: ./driftnet -v -i eth0 I get a blank pop-up, and the command window shows that it's seeing traffic. TIA, Bill

XP, huh ? Well, I haven't toyed with that beastie yet, but I have had 2 IDE disks fail under NT 4.0 (one at woek, one at home). Symptoms included sluggish file access, lockups, and BSODs. Look in Event Viewer, under System, for disk errors. If the disk is going bad, you'll see many of these (both correctable and non). Hope this helps.
