(#5.4.6) It sounds like the DNS is set up correctly, but QMAIL doesn't know it's supposed to accept mail destined for that domain. Take a look through the Qmail config docs. My qmail server could send the email but it could not receive the email.

Well, I've got a problem here..... Can somebody help me.... I've just built a new qmailserver, I can send email using my email address, but I could not receive any mail that sent to my address. In fact, I think i dont have problem with pop3 setting. Everytime I check my mail in my new qmail server, it is always say "NO NEW MESSAGES", it looks like it doesnt have a problem. but, ever person that tried to send me an email to my address that defined in my new qmail server, the sender got replied from my server (MAILER_DAEMON). I havent looked for a couple of weeks now but Ubid http://www.ubid.com had 36GB 10K ultra 160 drives for just over $100 and the 18GB for just under $100 I believe. Yeah it says 160 bad blocks :-( And it's about 6 months past the end of the 3 year warranty :-( It still amazes me how well the warranty timing circuity works... ;-) Thanks all that answered. I know there are some SCSI guru's on this list. One of my out of warranty drives died. (bad sectors) I'm replacing it. The old drive was SCSI-2 Wide(80pin). The SCSI interface listed in /proc/pci is: SCSI storage controller: Adaptec AHA-2940U/UW/D / AIC-7881U (rev 1). Will a Ultra160 80pin drive work? I'm pretty sure it does, just looking for verification. Anyone know for sure? I'd say you need to first find the cause of the "MAILER_DAEMON FAILURE NOTICE" maybee attach one of the messages and send it to the list. It usually says in the message why it failed. Then just correct the problem. Also look at the qmail logs, they might indicate what is going on. The logs might be in /var/log/ or /var/log/messages You gave very few details. I could not read from my my qmail server.

I've got a problem with qmail, I've built my qmail server, Here, I can send an email using my email address, cleary listed on the recepient name that the sender's address is listed. But, these following things happen : 1. I can connect to my server, the connection and autorization are workin' nice, It alwais say "NO NEW MESSAGES" 2. When I'm tryin' to send an email address to the one of the email address that defined on my mail server, it always MAILER_DAEMON replied with the subject is "FAILURE NOTICE" So, can somebody tell me what has happened here... ? REMINDER: WLUG meeting 15-jan-03

HI everybody, This is a reminder about the upcoming WLUG meeting to be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2003 in Kinnicutt Hall on the WPI campus in Worcester, MA. At this meeting, we'll be discussing Linux on handheld devices. Mostly, this meeting will be about actually running Linux on things like the iPAQ, but if anybody is interested, I"ll have my Palm IIIx and jpilot available for a quick demo (more like Linux *with* handhelds). I think Brad and Wes will be bringing iPAQs. Who else is planning on bringing something? Well, If you've got a "winmodem" check a few places like http://www.linmodems.org/ also, google is your friend in this case. If you've got an internal hardware modem, it's been my experience that in order for it to work at all, the port/IRQ settings in your bios have to exactly match the ones postulated in the setserial documentation... /dev/ttys0 (COM1), port 0x3f8, irq 4 /dev/ttys1 (COM2), port 0x2f8, irq 3 /dev/ttys2 (COM3), port 0x3e8, irq 4 /dev/ttys3 (COM4), port 0x2e8, irq 3 As for the broadband, do you have an external broadband modem connected to your machine via ethernet or an onboard broadband adapter? (I'm going on the premise that you've got the former... if you don't you'll have to look around for drivers that'll support the onboard broadband adapter) For your ethernet not working, I'd first check to see that the card was recognized. The best place to start is to see if the drivers been loaded. executing the "lsmod" command (as root) will give you a listing of all the loaded drivers... [root@medusa proc]# lsmod Module Size Used by Not tainted nls_iso8859-1 3488 0 (autoclean) 3c59x 28520 1 ... (this listing could be quite long) You should see something like the 3c59x (if you've got a 3com card) Also, you might want to check the Suse hardware errata to make sure that your cards totally supported. In this day an age, only rather exotic hardware isn't fully supported... Another place to look is /proc/interrupt aka "cat /proc/interrupt" (once again as root) this will give you a listing of all the devices linux sees on the machine. If you don't see your ethernet card listed, you probably have some sort of conflict. I hope this helps... No, it's a "software" modem, it's just that certain software modemns have had their specs open and others have had binary-only drivers released for them... Well, it's a little bit easy to indicate what your modem is ? If your modem is a kind of internal model, it must be a win modem. A win modem is a kind of modem that the mechanism is provided by windows application, it's not workin on linux machine. If you got an internal modem with the branded one such as USR Robotics, it is not win modem, it can work on linux platform. Basically, if you found a warning on your modem that your modem need minimum requeirment processor, it means you got a win modem, can not work with Linux. Hi Andy, I was hoping that by adding a second nic card that plugs into my router I could somehow configure the webserver to use one nic and the vpn to use the other without the 2 cards knowing about each other. From some of the responses I have gotten it appears that this was naive thinking on my part.
