While not entirely linux related, keyboard preference is something that we all have opinions on. I'll bring along a couple interesting keyboards that play nicely with linux. I know we'll definitely talk about the the RedHat decision as well. It'll be interesting to get Joshua's perspective on this as well. A one time process will probably do her best, not steps that would have to be repeated at each use. Could anyone offer suggestions on the best solution for her? Digital is definitely more finicky, you don't lose some visual acuity (noise or snow) on the edges of range, you just get nothing, I've had luck with bowtie antenna inside the attic even without signal amplification, with it I can get WJAR/WPRI, too. Little easier than a traditional yagi since it's not so directional. If you've got the space and dosh for a yagi and rotator you should be able to get all the locals easily. I use one in Millbury. I live on a hill, have it mounted in my attic. I get about 30 stations. Most of the normal ones. Pretty sure I would get more if I mounted it on a post. And to Linux-ize this.. It is fed into a tvheadend server running on ubuntu on a RPi, which I then serve to Jellyfin running on a VM on my server. HDTV Antennas

Has anyone in the list had any experience using an external HDTV antenna in Worcester? Reason I ask is that we ditched the full spectrum tv channel lineup and went with a the abbreviated channel lineup. However, we are missing the local broadcast tv stations and I was wondering it I could pick up some of them using an external antenna. I searched the web for information but I do not have enough of a radio background to understand the meaning of the signal strength tables that I find. A while ago I purchased an interior antenna and did not have any luck so I figure that I might try an external antenna. The TEK keyboard looks good and with familiar design. I thought at first you were talking about the brand I use: I currently have a TEX Shinobi, which has the trackpoint (like on Thinkpads) if you use those, as well as left click/right click/scroll. I like the size as well, which I find to be compact. My only real issues: I would choose switches other than browns (there is a DIY version which seems interesting) and the scroll button does not register as Mouse3. They're still mostly QWERTY, but have moved a few of the special keys around, like enter and delete. I'd have to see some pretty impressive improvements before I'd try to really put in the work to learn and switch between the whole alphabet. Besides, I find that the keyboard is rarely the bottleneck - I quite frequently can type faster than I can think, so typing faster wouldn't speed up my work at all! So my primary keyboard these days is one of the older TEK keyboards. They're still mostly QWERTY, but have moved a few of the special keys around, like enter and delete. Even these took some time to get used to, and a little more time to get used to switching back and forth with the typical layout on anything else. I'd have to see some pretty impressive improvements before I'd try to really put in the work to learn and switch between the whole alphabet. Besides, I find that the keyboard is rarely the bottleneck - I quite frequently can type faster than I can think, so typing faster wouldn't speed up my work at all!
