Cara, That would be awesome. It seems that WPI is the most central for everybody. Could we get something booked for Tomorrow or are we cutting it too close? Thanks, Tim. Hi Tim, I think the issue with WPI has been inconsistent room bookings, especially in May due to the number of large events taking place. Now that those are over it should be relatively* easy to get a recurring reservation in for one of the campus center meeting rooms on a monthly basis. Happy to work with the events office and see what'll work. Looking at the replies so far, I'm going to keep the meetings on Thursday. It sounds like more northern places like Leominster might be harder for some and easier for others.. Tim. Or is she interested in encrypting the emails on the phone so that no one else can read them on the phone? Very different use cases. In my experience, encrypted, much less signed emails, is still a pain to do. It's sorta interoperable, but PGP keys (and key management in particular) is just painful at times. No idea on at rest on Android.

WLUG Meeting next week! July 13th 2023.. Tentative topic is keyboards, RedHat.

by Tim Keller

While not entirely linux related, keyboard preference is something that we all have opinions on. I'll bring along a couple interesting keyboards that play nicely with linux. I know we'll definitely talk about the the RedHat decision as well. It'll be interesting to get Joshua's perspective on this as well. I'm still working out a location on the WPI campus, I'll let everybody know when I get more details. Thanks, Tim. -- I am leery of the allegiances of any politician who refers to their constituents as "consumers".

Email Encryption on an Android Phone

by hammerron

I have a friend who is interested in encrypting her emails on an Android phone. She lacks computer experience. Anything that she would use would have to be very simple. A one time process will probably do her best, not steps that would have to be repeated at each use. Could anyone offer suggestions on the best solution for her? Would something like Proton Mail be sufficient? Ron

Re: HDTV Antennas

Digital is definitely more finicky, you don't lose some visual acuity (noise or snow) on the edges of range, you just get nothing, I've had luck with bowtie antenna inside the attic even without signal amplification, with it I can get WJAR/WPRI, too. Little easier than a traditional yagi since it's not so directional. If you've got the space and dosh for a yagi and rotator you should be able to get all the locals easily. Unless you're in a weird null, which we definitely do have in the seven hills. -soup On Fri, Jun 23, 2023 at 7:46 PM John Stoffel via WLUG <wlug(a)lists.wlug.org> wrote: > >>>>> "David" == David Glaser via WLUG <wlug(a)lists.wlug.org> writes: > > > Has anyone in the list had any experience using an external HDTV antenna > > in Worcester? > > Personally no, but my neighbor here in Boylston uses it. > > > Reason I ask is that we ditched the full spectrum tv channel lineup > > and went with a the abbreviated channel lineup.
