"sync" is a command that suggests to the OS that it ought to flush its disk buffers out to the actual disk. A habit I picked up a while ago was to do two or three of them in a row before doing something to the system, such as rebooting, doing the ol' Stop-A/disconnect disk/go trick on the Sparc, etc. It's not normally needed, but just something I do for good measure in certain cirumstances. ;) -- Randomly Generated Tagline: Zapp: The spirit is willing but the flesh is spongey and bruised.

No cd's. This is my first venture into Sun, but this is running Aurora right now anyway. Gona try a live cd and see what happens, but I also have the Sun Solaris 10 download. Ill try making a bootable Disk1 and try your suggestion. Re: [Wlug] Cross Compiling

If you are curious about building cross compilers, you might have a look at the crosstool. http://kegel.com/crosstool/ http://kegel.com/crosstool/crosstool-0.37/buildlogs/ The above links provid information about building gcc to go across architectures. If you are just going x86 linux to x86 windows, you may find cygwin and/or mingw to be what you are seeking. Cheers. It is the tower version, not the pizza box: http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/Example/component.front_zoom.h… I don't remember if it has an OS on there, but you can download various Linux distros or Sun Solaris for free to install. The 450 is a refrigerator sized box: http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/E450/E450.html This is a standalone unit with the side panels and wheels. There is no rack and no rack mount kit with it. It plugs in using a single standard PC-style IEC electrical cord, but has redundant power supplies. Thanks for all the replies...I'll look into the "Red" book. As far as hardware, can those who offered send me a price on what they have? Of course I would like the best of what you have, but nothing terribly expensive. Dual CPU if possible, but not necessary. Do Sun's take standard RAM? I beleive they are mostly SCSI, and if so, what type? UltraSCSI, SCSI 2, etc etc, as I may have drives to use. And video...standard 25pin D SVGA? Ethernet too would be important. Thanks again! This was right around the time Darl McBride, who has before been hired by litigious companies as CEO, was hired. It appears that before SCO even began its investigation, they were hoping to find a smoking gun, not believing that Linux could possibly not contain Unix code. Big LCD monitors with dual HD15 inputs?

by John Stoffel

Hi all, Anyone know of good quality LCD monitor with dual HD15 analog inputs? Something that's 19" or bigger, with a high contrast ratio and quick response time? I'm looking to reaplce some old Sun 21" monitors with dual inputs. Thanks, John
