Re: [Wlug] Ubuntu CD's

Thats all good info! My plan is similar, but to use the Ubuntu liveCD during the class, and let them take their copy home with them. Who ever brings a laptop can participate in the hands on parts of the class (which I haven't made up yet) via the liveCD. Ill have an overhead with the slide's on it and can dump out to a terminal when needed. nice link, too..i might just modify that to my environment. Andy ordered a nice pile of the last Ubuntu...maybe he can do it again with dapper dan (or whatever its called). thanks --- Adam Keck <ghostis(a)mac.com> wrote: > > On Apr 11, 2006, at 11:37 AM, Mike Leo wrote: > > > I made the mistake of offering a linux basics class at work. > > > > Since when is teaching a class on Linux a mistake! ;-) > > Actually, I have taught two such classes to the front-line admins at > work. I hope a few people will be there who attended Linux Expo in Boston - I'm curious to hear about it, and I hope others are as well. Bring your Linux questions - you can ask the group and I'm sure somebody will have an answer. All Linux related topics are fair game at this meeting! I'll bring a few items for raffle (and others might also...). We'll adjourn to the Tech Pizza restaurant after the meeting. I made the mistake of offering a linux basics class at work. I was going to use the Ubuntu LiveCD to get the class some hands on. This way, they could take the CD and install it if they wanted too. I figured about 5-10 responders would say they wanted to go to the class. So far about 20 people are coming. Anyone have any extra 5.1 Ubuntu CD's they can part with? I need at least 10 more now and don't have time to wait for the mail. I know I could make copies, but talking about the free-ness of it, it would be better to hand them a nice legit copy. If so, please bring them to the LUG meeting tomorow if you can. Thanks... Mike

Anyone have a good suggestion for a place to recycle junk computers cheaply. I've got a pile of dead equipment starting to fill my garage and now that it's spring, it's time to get rid of it all. Most of it actually works, it's just all P133 or PIIs and they're not worth the effort to keep running any more. Plus I've got some work stuff to get rid of too, monitors and such. John
