the request came to me via a friend: Hello hello, I'm looking for working PCs that are no longer needed by their owners. We have many students that could benefit from the hands on learning that can only be made available through private donations. As one of three instructors here at the Shriver Job Corps Center , I would personally see to all systems being cleaned of private information by wiping all internal hard drives using DOD, (Department Of Defense), Standards. Each operating PC would then be entered into our training program for our students as a break/fix computer. If you know of anyone who may be interested in participating for the sake of our students, please pass along this note. Although all donations will be greatly appreciated it would not be a tax write-off but you will be able to sleep better knowing that you have helped aspiring technicians learn a trade and become active working participants in this great country of ours. KDE died on me

Hello, KDE 3.5.9 died on me. I installed some updates via the adept updater and after rebooting, I get dropped into run-level 3 (which I actually prefer). Startkde : Running kpersonalizer. . . I believe versions 6.1 - 6.6 were affected. The issue I had was that the second file/dir argument onwards was not properly tallied. So, using your example, jigdo would show a size of 1 if it were run as: >du -smxc yum jigdo but if you changed the command line to: >du -smxc jigdo yum Then jigdo would show the correct size of 48. -BR

The position will be responsible for an analysis, implementation, and maintenance recommendations of Walchem’s data security and integrity needs. Systems for data security and integrity: Initial analysis of Walchem’s backup and security needs for existing Linux servers and tape library. (including written recommendations) Upon successful review of recommendations, implement backup and security scheme Supply written recommendations for proactive ongoing maintenance. Our client in RI has a 5+ mth contract opening for a Linux kernel consultant with AMD/ATI chipset experience. Details as follows: The candidate should posses following skills: The consultant (5+ mth contract in RI) will be assisting the core development team in targeting the Linux Operating System for our client's next generation POS terminal. This development project requires a highly skilled individual. The consultant will also assist in the device driver development and integration for the video graphics sub-system on the POS terminal. The majority of the work must be done on-site. Expertise in the AMD Chipset technologies and targeting the Linux OS to AMD Processors REQUIRED! High level of Expertise in the targeting of a 2.6 Linux Kernel to an AMD/ATI chip set combination. C skills required, Java is a plus, video drivers, embedded targeting. Of the 2 skill sets, C is the more important but having a good understanding of Java Virtual Machines would be helpful.
