REMINDER: Meeting on Wednesday, Nov 19th, 7:00 PM

by Andy Stewart

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 HI Everybody, Don't forget about the WLUG meeting! J.R. Mauro will be our guest speaker (he was at the last meeting, too, for those who might remember him). His talk will be on Source Code Management. Please refer to the WLUG website for a more detailed description of J.R.'s talk. As a side topic, either after J.R.'s talk, or over pizza, I'll entertain any discussion of why I shouldn't dump Kubuntu in favor of SuSE on my laptop. The Hardy and Intrepid versions of Kubuntu are backward steps in functionality compared to Gutsy (in my very limited experience). The SuSE live CD works just fine. Don't reply to the email...repeat, don't reply to the email...save the flame wars for Wednesday evening! :-) See ya there! It looks like you can do it in Icedove (Thunderbird). i've never tried it. Edit --> Folder Properties --> Retention Policy And then you can set it by number of messages or days or for messages that have been read. Automatically deleting old email

by Clint Moyer

Is it possible in Evolution (or another email client) to configure messages to be deleted after a specified period without manual intervention? I have a few folders set for mailing lists and shopping offers, but the contents are irrelevant after a few days. I'd like to be able to set up each folder to delete messages older than seven days, for example. Thanks.

Re: [Wlug] Samba config help

by Tim Keller

Pete, It might help us a bit if you were to stick a copy of your smb.conf file somwhere we could look at it... In my experiences setting up samba, I've hit a couple of odd problems.. 1. When working with samba I've found selinux to be the bane of my existence so I've been turning it off. 2. Samba is pretty good about logging any problems it encounters... I hope that helps... Tim. although I love money, I bet we can solve this via email. You can email me the money if you want. You have 1 CentOS server on it with data you want to share to your Windows machines? If you create the share in /etc/samba/smb.conf, create a few users on CentOS and run some samba-add(?) commands you should be all set. if you are talking about having the Windows users log into Windows machines with LDAP accounts that live on the CentOS box, that's a different story. ________________________________ From: Pete Wason <codevark(a)aim.com> To: wlug(a)mail.wlug.org Sent: Thursday, October 30, 2008 10:54:33 AM Subject: [Wlug] Samba config help I wil PAY someone to come to my house and help me configure Samba on my CentOS server. Samba config help

I wil PAY someone to come to my house and help me configure Samba on my CentOS server. I have three Windows machines set up with an admin user and a non-admin user.
