I've found that moving my systems to Fedora Atomic has been great for avoiding situations like this. Installing 6.12.8 I managed to mess up my order of operations and rebooted before fully updating the boot loader.. Don't install kernels when you're sleepy.. Tim. I am used to getting an email from Tim Keller when there is a WLUG meeting. I am also used to it being on the second Thursday of the month. One of those didn't happen. Two meetings ago I tried to do a presentation of LaTeX, but share-screen did not work like it did three meetings ago. One meeting ago, share screen worked, but everyone was talking about something else, and I wasn't really ready anyway. Tim, I fixed it for you. Gmail bounces emails it thinks are malicious. Indeed, someone sent a virus to the list. Only the moderators got the message because the list is moderated. But moderators who use gmail didn't get it because gmail "protected" them. I maintain a couple of mailing lists for friends and family that have been much the same since the 20th century. I had to move them from a computer in my basement, to a VPS in the fog^H^H^H cloud when they took away my IP address, but it's still Postfix SMTP configured to forward without change. I have found the gmail.com can be erratic. Often it delays (defers) msgs without bouncing them. I only saw them bounce once--- no idea why. The error message rotates between three or four variants, sometimes different for re-tries of the same msg. Sometimes it goes through after a day or more. Once I canceled a message that was stuck in the queue for more than a day waiting for gmail.com, but a yahoo.com user got it and replied, quoting the entire first message. That quickly went through to all, including gmail, while the first one was still in the queue. I figured everyone had seen it, if only as quoted, and there was no reason to keep pushing it. The email in essence said, "you will no longer be receiving emails from the wlug mailing list due to excessive number of bounces." Clearly, that message was in error.. since I'm getting them just fine. Very weird. Tim.
