If you bought the modem it was $195.00. If you take the buy option you can spread the modem payment out over three months. I took the buy option it will pay for itself in a year. John................... Contentment is not the fulfillment of what you want, but the realization of how much you already have.

I am using charter as well. With the promotion of a free month of service if I bought the modem from them I paid $135 for my surfboard modem...so far no problem. The only complaint is that occasionally the mail servers go down. I also bought the Motorola modem directly from Charter. It was $200 and they'll split it into 4 payments tacked on to your bill. I let the installer set it up on my W2K box and, after he left, swapped the cat5 to my Linux box. I set it up for NAT and everything worked fine. I've since bought a Linksys router so I can tear apart my Linux box without disrupting internet access for the rest of my network. There's never been any problem with Charter, though the speed is nowhere near 1.5 Mbps.
