Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but to play music from computer to stereo, you just need the right combination of cables and mini-jack to RCA converter, and go from the headphone/speaker jack on the computer to some input of the stereo. (I'm using Tape In) Use your favorite software mixer to make sure you have the right channels unmuted and turned up. If you want to play stuff on the stereo and record it on the computer, it gets a little more complicated, but it's still pretty easy. Tape Out to Mic, and record with Audacity or Ardour or something else that I don't know. (Maybe Gramofile if you like CLI.) I might not understand exactly what you mean, but wouldn't MPD do the trick? What can your radio understand? PC to Home Stereo Solution

Is it me or is there no good solution to streaming your OGG and FLAC music files to your home stereo from Linux. Even the Windows solutions seem sparse and are usually proprietary. I have wanted to do this for a long time and every time I start googling for a solution I come up empty. Does anyone have any experience with this? I would appreciate your comments. I've never had problems with grub accessing a usb keyboard, as long as the 'enable usb legacy devices' or similar was active in the bios. As has been mentioned, I don't think you will need the mouse. BestBuy will accept up to 3 e;lectronics items/small appliances per day from consumers, at no charge. Except for tv's and monitors, for which you must pay $10, but receive a $10. BestBuy card in return. Also, no refrigerators or air conditioners or tv's over 37" (?). Anyhow, they have rules, but it is convenient if you can't get an appointment at Balard Street with the city. As for my USB Keyboard, the BIOS had a switch to turn on USB Keyboards and the Mouse (though I never needed the mouse for grub). Thanks for the help! Ted

The first place I would look is whether or not I could access the BIOS configuration. If the BIOS does not respond to the USB keyboard, I would nor expect something as low level as GRUB to access the keyboard. I have not loked at the source of GRUB, but something as small as grub would have to use a standardized interface. In my mind, that leaves ISA hardware standards or standard BIOS calls.
