Tim, I fixed it for you. Gmail bounces emails it thinks are malicious. Indeed, someone sent a virus to the list. Only the moderators got the message because the list is moderated. But moderators who use gmail didn't get it because gmail "protected" them. I maintain a couple of mailing lists for friends and family that have been much the same since the 20th century. I had to move them from a computer in my basement, to a VPS in the fog^H^H^H cloud when they took away my IP address, but it's still Postfix SMTP configured to forward without change. I have found the gmail.com can be erratic. Often it delays (defers) msgs without bouncing them. I only saw them bounce once--- no idea why. The error message rotates between three or four variants, sometimes different for re-tries of the same msg. Sometimes it goes through after a day or more. Once I canceled a message that was stuck in the queue for more than a day waiting for gmail.com, but a yahoo.com user got it and replied, quoting the entire first message. That quickly went through to all, including gmail, while the first one was still in the queue. I figured everyone had seen it, if only as quoted, and there was no reason to keep pushing it. I find this annoying. Maybe the WLUG server does too. > Clearly, that message was in error.. since I'm getting them just fine. Well, many of them are addresed to you in addition to WLUG. This one purposely is not. Check that the ones you get are forwarded through the list and not just sent directly to you. I get two copies of many messages To: WLUG and CC: me. Also check if there is a big difference betweeen the Date: on the msg and the time you get it. -- Keith

Clearly, that message was in error.. since I'm getting them just fine. Very weird. Tim. Very cool! The meeting went great. I ended up doing an inadvertent demo of the kernel when I had jitsi going, a compile on 2 of my 4 cores, plus running cad and my machine just kept on chugging. Technocopia was having a holiday party so we had lots of people wander in as well. All in all, it was great. Tim. This sounds like your Ubuntu 20.x install went south. Was this a new install or your current system? Did you apply any updates before this problem came up? So I think what you want to do is boot an Ubunto 20.04 or 20.10 ISO, and then go into 'rescue' mode or shell mode. I honestly forget. But the idea is to then get into your setup, chroot to your old non-booting setup and re-run the 'update-grub' or 'update-initramfs' tools to rebuild your setup. But we do need more details. Would it be possible for you to bring the computer to a WLUG meeting? People would be able to help you there more quickly than over email.
