I hope not. Even if I rarely attend meetings, I appreciate everyone and everything that happens in WLUG. Recently soimeone I know by correspondence, apparently a nuclear physicist, has had problems with his aging Mac, and contacted me for help since he knows I build my own computers. He' wants to build his own, and install a Linux OS. He is in the US but not local. I recommended some parts for a new build for him, but also recommended that he find a LUG near him and contact them, etc. Is there a directory of LUGs that he can consult? Are the LUGs in contact with each other? If not, that should have been happening right along. I have one issue of my own going on in a prog I have here that I need help with --just a stupid glitch in a text file that should be easy to find, but the text file is HUGE, yet I don't know how to write the correct commands in order to find the probable bad characters in this file and correct them. It would probably be easy for someone, but... I should write this up and send it in case someone can easily solve this. I hope our LUG and the others are not planning to expire anytime soon. Disabled digest mode on my subscription this morning, so I would not read WLUG meeting replies tomorrow morning. I've got a workaround to the problem. dvd::rip can successfully encode the problematic episodes. Still wish I knew a solution with mencoder rather than having to learn the various encoding options of another program. I've been encoding some dvds for a while. I purchased The Incredible Hulk: The Complete Animated Collection some time ago. It is PAL encoded but the only way to legally purchase the 1982 series. Encoding those worked fine but when I tried encoding the 1966 series I encountered problems with three episodes. Episodes 4, 8, and 13 produced the error: Too many audio packets in the buffer: (4096 in 8257533 bytes). Maybe you are playing a non-interleaved stream/file or the codec failed? For AVI files, try to force non-interleaved mode with the -ni option. I've found various suggestions on fixing it (ac3_fixed instead of ac3, various combinations of -mc and -ofs).
