Annual WLUG Party October 13th 2016

Hey Gang, Long time member Richard Goodman has graciously offered to host the annual WLUG party at his house. This year instead of BBQ, we're going to do pizza. Date: October 13th, 2016 Time: 6:00 PM Location: 51 Valley Hill Drive, Worcester MA Weather permitting we might even be outside! Feel free to bring soda and other beverages, chip & dips, salad, desserts, etc. Dick will provide the main courses to keep it all kosher. I'm still here

Thank you for the post. I'm still here as a Wlug member. When is the next meeting? Perhaps we can have a meeting about the present dark hacks and malware. Meanwhile, I'm touring the new Linux Mint 18 and find it fresh and very stable but limited in some areas. I think they will add things to upgrades and updates. Again, thank you.

Tim, The meeting announcement I sent to the IEEE members (see below) included the wrong room number. I cannot notify them before the meeting of the typo that was in the announcement. Tomorrow I will be in Boston all day at a VMware vForum conference that ends at 4-5 o'clock and can't be sure I will get to WPI before 7pm. Is there some way you can put up some signage on Washburn doors indicating the correct room number? I don't know how many, or if, any IEEE members will attend but the meeting's topic should be of interest to some of them. Here's what he recently posted to the list (if you didn't already see it) Thanks for inviting me to give a talk on containers this Thursday. I'm a Senior at WPI and spent the last two summers working on container technologies at Red Hat under the Project Atomic/OpenShift banners. If you all are interested, topics for discussion could be: - Containers 101: Introduction & Motivations - Container Technologies -- docker -- Open Containers Initiative -- LXC, rkt, and others - Container Implementation -- namespaces -- cgroups -- security implications, comparison to Virtual Machines - Containers in Production (Kubernetes, etc.) - Containers in Consumer Environments (Flatpak, Snappy, etc.) If there are any other container-related topics you'd like to hear about, please just let me know and I can work them in.
