Virtual Location: https://meet.jit.si/WlugMA Topic: JetKVM Long time WLUG Member John Stoffel is going to be demoing his JetKVM ( https://jetkvm.com/) It's a next generation KVM over IP that started as a kickstarter and is now a "real product". Fully hackable, this FOSS KVM has a bunch of neat features. As usual expect a lively conversation, a cool demo and our usual shenanigans. I suspect we might need to do that to a bunch of .gov sites as well.. I could see the NIH and other sites stripped of actual useful information and replaced with bullshit. I'm not familiar with any self-hosted systems, but archive.today and ghostarchive.org are a couple of Wayback Machine alternatives (although far less comprehensive than WM). -- *"For a long time it seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. Self hosted equivalent to wayback machine

So apparently, for some unknown and completely unforeseeable reason, a few notable websites have gone dark, like reproductiverights.org, lots of DEI related content, and <checks notes...> the official page on the US constitution. For now much of this content can still be found at the Wayback Machine, but it's not hard to foresee the same forces that took down the original content going after them as well. As an alternative, is anyone familiar with completely self-hosted systems with equivalent functionality to the Wayback Machine? -- - Frank

My only two problems (personally) with it are: 1) Storage is limited (I want at leat 16 TB for all of my media -- photos and videos). A pair of 8 TB M.2's would be great, but those aren't available in 2230 form factor. 2) I'd prefer a 4K screen, even at a lower refresh rate. I'm not into gaming. Otherwise, it looks like a fantastic machine. I'd prefer to trade off size and weight in favor of capability, but I'm probably an outlier.

My Framework 16 has been great. I have not upgraded anything. Games I couldn't run before can be run perfectly fine. I did recently try "Return to Moria" and it did not run well. It is PS5 game not available for the PS4 so I suspect it just requires more power than the Framework 16 graphics can give. I'm not running machine learning code so that hasn't been an issue for me. Keith, I have a Framework 16 and it does have good upgradability features. I have not upgraded anything with OEM parts yet, but I was able to re-use a mPCIe wireless adapter from an older laptop that is nicer with the kernel, as well as the storage from my old laptop. I saved money when buying the user-assembled Framework 16 kit as I didn't need to include storage or RAM. I used the NVMe storage from my older laptop and bought some aftermarket RAM that was cheaper than anything Framework was offering with the kit.
