What devices do you have hooked up to your TV? I assume blueRay or DVD, but anything else? Personally, I'd probably skip or not use any of the smart TVs since they seem to get hacked or broken after a few short years, esp when the vendor turns off the website supporting them. Or stops updating the Netflix plugin, etc. I've got a Sony 42" LCD from 2007 which is working great. Hooked upto a Tivo and DVD player. So for me, getting more inputs would be a big thing, so then I could try running a ChromeCast or someth other type of system on a stick. Basically, keep the TV as dumb as possible, so that the sucker doesn't screw you over. John

New TV Suggestions?

Hey Gang, After 17 years, my venerable 27" Panasonic tube TV finally died. Now... what to replace it with? So far I'm looking at the Visio TVs, but I'd peoples like/hates with their current TV's etc. I like won't be using it as a monitor and will only be watching streaming stuff. I figure this is midly linux related because most modern TV's are running linux! Thanks, Tim. -- I am leery of the allegiances of any politician who refers to their constituents as "consumers".

Hi Tim, I am involved with a project to bring low cost Single Board Computers to Latin America. As part of this I am constantly evaluating SBCs for the project. I could give a talk on some of the SBCs on the market, how to evaluate them and how to make a choice between the ones you might want to purchase. Unfortunately I will not be able to do this until the June or July time frame. WLUG Meeting March 10th 2016!

Hey Gang, I put a shout out for topic ideas and got crickets... If Frank would be gracious enough to do a talk bout RPZ security features in bind (even if it's a short one) that would be great. Then I figure we can do a round table and talk about the new Raspberry Pi 3, competitors to the Pi, SQL server for Linux?!?!, ZFS on in ubuntu 16.10, linux gaming, etc. If there's something that someone's interested in talking about, reply to the list and we'll round table it as well... lots of times this turns into a topic. Someone (maybe Chuck) mentioned something about Flask... Afterwards we'll head to Tech Pizza (and if it's warm enough maybe Wooberry!) and keep the conversation going. I'd like to apologize for dropping the ball a bit lately, life's gotten hectic. I'm going to start working on getting some speakers lined up.
