I'm a maniac that's compiling his own kernel.. so my machine gets rebooted all the time.. generally I take updates, then build a kernel, install the kernel and then reboot. There have been many times when jitsi worked well and times when roughness was clearly because the microphone was too far from the person speaking and somebody in the next room was using a jack hammer. To aid debugging here is my report: When I first got into the meeting, I could neither hear nor speak. Somebody fixed something and I could hear the meeting, but still could not speak. This was definitely a problem on my end. I went a "settings" menu where you choose whether to use the built-in microphone or the one on the headset. I had already chosen (correctly) the headset, but this time I noticed a scroll bar on the side and when I scrolled down it revealed a volume control which was set to zero. When I set it to one I could be heard. For a while it all worked well. Kevin gave a Very Impressive demo. Then you decided to change things around. I think I heard someone say something like "you need to use the microphone that goes with that window". The sound cut off. I figured you were working on it, and said nothing. When Kevin resumed his demo I could not hear it. Several people complained via the text-based "chat". The little window with Kevin's pictrure had a "muted" icon (micrphone with slash thru). Nobody seemed to be watching the chat and it no longer worked when I tried shouting. I suspect that if anyone had noticed that Kevin had was muted and pressed the correct "unmute" button, all would have been good again. -- Keith

Sorry about the A/V issues last night on Jitsi..

I recently bought for my pi5 an actual cooler amd a hat that'll let me connect a m.2. I've hinted at setting up a zulip server and other stuff on it and then serving it over a tailsacale funnel.
