Aramico, See the "split" command. It will do what you want. SuSE Installation process.

by Adam Keck

Hello All, Does anyone have in-depth knowledge of the current SuSE install process? I want to get an install to exclude certain GIDs that we use in NIS when the install assigns GIDs to groups owned by packages. I found that I can assign the correct GID to an internal group in the autoyast XML file, but the package that uses that GID still gets a group assigned with that GID. Then result is duplicate GIDs in /etc/group. Ideally I would like to know how to get the installer to ignore certain GIDs. -Adam

Upcoming WLUG meeting reminder

by Andy Stewart

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 HI everybody, Our next WLUG meeting is nearly upon us. Let's see if I can announce the date correctly this month: :-) Wed Oct 5th 2005 7:00 PM The theme of this meeting will be "What is the theme of this meeting?". As of late, that has been a familiar theme. Still, we manage to have fun both during and after the meeting, and that's a good theme (uh, thing)! Without intending to sound like a looping MP3, I'm always looking for someone to lead a talk at the meeting. I don't think I've ever turned anyone down so don't be shy. Having said that, I'm sure someone will come up with some wild idea just to be the first to get turned down. In the absence of a formal speaker, we can start by informally discussing GNU GRUB (http://www.gnu.org/software/grub) That topic will eventually lead us to other tangential topics. I was recently contacted by a person (Mel) who is having some trouble with Debian Sarge on a laptop. The difficulty has to do with loading X onto the laptop, which Mel will be bringing to the meeting. I hope a couple of Debian users appear at the meeting and can help Mel with this problem. At this meeting, I'll bring two books for the zero cost raffle: Linux Quick Fix Notebook Bruce Perens' Open Source Series Author: Peter Harrison Publisher: Prentice Hall http://www.quickfixnotebook.com Technical Writing (for Engineers and Scientists) Author: Barry J. Rosenberg Publisher: Addison Wesley http://www.awprofessional.com/title/0131498630 That's about it - see you at the meeting!
