Has anyone here built a jitsi server?

Has anyone here built a functional jitsi server? I tried today, with a fresh Debian-10 install and the jitsi "quick-install" method: https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/doc/quick-install.md It didn't work. jitsi logs indicated a java problem; I had neither the time nor really the inclination to debug their "stable" install. My two test-laptops were able to connect to meet.jit.si and communicated with eachother using the "free" jitsi server, but when the same two laptops were connected to the server I'd just built, the two failed to connect. I'll try again tomorrow. The next immediate challenge will be purging the traces of the failed first experiment from the system. --MCV.

Hi! When is the meeting? BTW, I have *piles* of (mostly Dell) hardware for sale (donation? either is overly complicated..). Everything from an old Dimension E530 desktop to a Poweredge R515 with 12TB of internal disk (both already running CentOS 6.10). A whole roomfull of Optiplex 740s and 580s, an R300, two R415s, etc. In a few weeks I'll also have a couple of Synology RS2416+ units with expansion chassis. I can forward a complete list if anyone is interested. Most of the equipment is in Worcester, where I work. Stay safe! I've recently learned about BigBlueButton, which is designed around teaching with features like slideshow integration and session recordings (currently disabled due to increased demand though). I think this could work well for us seeing as we tend to do presentations hosted our own computers anyway. Does LINUX still exist?

I am trying for figure out what, if anything, of FEDORA RED HAT LINUX is still available. I have downloaded a DVD that I plan to install on my DELL XPS desktop PC running WINDOWS 10. Will it find for me my old LINUX atmosphere? Ken Jones

So this isn't free "as in beer" but I just saw https://wire.com/en/ mentioned on HackerNews today. Source code is GPL3, but it looks like they handle the hosting for 4 euro/user/month. They mention in their FAQ that you can self-host, but it sounds like you still have to pay to do that.
