Meeting topics for Sept. 12th

HI gang, I'm looking for a speaker for the Sept. 12th WLUG meeting. If you have a desire to speak on a topic, please bounce your ideas off of me and we'll see if something can be worked out. If you know somebody who'd be a good speaker, please let me know that as well. Finally, I'd like to put out an APB on Rob Bellville. He is our former webmaster, and I"m trying to get in touch with him. His e-mail address doesn't exist any more. If anybody knows Rob or how I can get in touch with him, please contact me ASAP. You will need the client software for whatever technology the VPN uses. You've got choices ranging from IPsec (the linux client is called FreeS/WAN) to pptp (with a sick hack of a linux client that I maintain) with a bunch of other choices in between. Find out what the VPN is based on and then do a google for that and linux. VPN Question

Hi all, I have only connected to a network via a VPN using windows software in the past. How do I go about establishing a VPN connection using linux. Do I need to get any software and what other information will I need besides my login, password, and server IP address? Thanks, Mike

You're half-right: the SetOutputHandler option is apparently for Apache 2.0 and most people should still be using Apache 1.3. However, SSI (what .shtml files are) should still work with Apache 1.3. The relative configuration lines are: Options +Includes In the <Directory> block, and: AddType text/html .shtml AddHandler server-parsed .shtml Either also in the directory block or with the rest of the add type/handler statements. I don't know much about apache configuration, so i got some info from apache.org about this. i ended up with this config chunck # put in so we can use .shtml files in /home/httpd/includes <Directory "/home/httpd/includes"> Options +Includes # (took from http://www.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mod_include.html) <IfModule mod_include.c> AddType text/html .shtml <FilesMatch "\.shtml(\..+)?$"> SetOutputFilter INCLUDES </FilesMatch> </IfModule> </Directory> When i parse the config file i get this # httpd -t Syntax error on line 408 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: Invalid command 'SetOutputFilter', perhaps mis-spelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration any suggestions here? i'm using the apache that came with red hat 7.0 Thanks, --Brad

When set, if the "Reply-To:" field is set to the same value as the "To:" field, Mutt assumes that the "Reply- To:" field was set by the mailing list to automate responses to the list, and will ignore this field. To direct a response to the mailing list when this option is set, use the list-reply function; group- reply will reply to both the sender and the list. Just use pine guys, it asks you if you want to use reply-to address or from address. personal, i can deal with deleteing e-mails i dont' want, and i prefer it this way so that when somebody answers somebodies question, i get to know how it was done incase i ever run into it in the future. but tha tis just me.
