help: printing to MS98 server

I thought I had success (well, I had some) setting up printing to my W98 printer. What I find is that I can print a postscript file to the printer just fine -- at least the first page. But, I can't get more than the first page to go. Here's my commands. The first is for a postscript file, and the second uses nenscript so that I can print a text file. cat mail.ps | gs -dNOPAUSE -q -sDEVICE=bjc600 -sOutputFile=- - | smbclient //bertha/CANON -c 'print -' nenscript -B -p - < mail.txt | gs -dNOPAUSE -q -sDEVICE=bjc600 -sOutputFile=- - | smbclient //bertha/CANON -c 'print -' I think I'm doing something wrong with the gs command, but I don't see what. Thanks for your help. What I was trying to do was to parse a command's output, pulling the second field from lines whose first field contains a number and outputing that 2nd field to an external file with one entry on each line. This to build a configuration file that will be read by another program. What I was struggling with, and still am after all your replies, is the output file. I seem to have to do crazy things to avoid extra blank lines in the file: Note also that this is a cross platform application: for some reason, perl 5.6.0 on NT does wierd interpretations of the variables within the reg exprs? I have a RioVolt 100 which uses a standard ISO9660 disc. When it first reads the CD, it does a find for all the sound files and then lets you navigate the directories to play files. So if I'm feeling lazy, I put all the MP3s in the root of the CD and call it good. If I'm making an archive CD, or if I'm feeling more structured, I'll do the following: / genre artist album MP3s As for playlists, it depends. Most of these players don't use "standard" (as defined by your current MP3 player) playlists, they just handle directories. So you could make a directory with the songs you wanted and go from there. Andy, The Way I lay my CD's out is root Artist Album mp3's I personally use mkisofs and the loopback mount them as a sanity check. As for the format, I use ISO9660/Joliet with "allow stuff that breaks ISO" aka mkisofs -U -J -o some.iso a_subdirectory_layed_out_like_above/ It'll then bitch about this not conforming but everything works fine. The manual that comes with it should specify how to lay out the files and directories to get what you want. I have purchased a cheaper model, which has weird rules about what order the directories play, but I've successfully burned ISO disks in Linux and played them on the thing. I couldn't imagine anything easier. Of course, now that I'm on the forum, here, I've got another question for the folks. Is there any to create the equivalent to hard links on an ISO disk? With my particular player, this would seem to be the only way to create "playlists." (That would be just to make directories with "hard links" that point to songs that are already elsewhere on the disk.) Thanks. -Chuck

My question is this: what format is used for the MP3 CD? Is it just a standard ISO9660 CD with the MP3 files and playlists(?) layed out with a particular directory scheme? Or is it something else?
