I have seen firewalls, when downloading a large file, reduce in performance until the connection appears to freeze. The comment about the router being old has SOME validity. Would a firmware update of the router be in order? I have come to expect a new windows box to be busy for a while doing updates when it is first turned on (*ugh*). I fully admit my router is a POS. I've needed and wanted an excess to upgrade it, now I have some ammo... Sorry honey the wifi is down... the new machine crashed the router... we'll just have to buy a new one... I'll bring this machine to work tomorrow and see how it fairs there...
